Is there a guide on getting affinity with companions fast that hasn't been patched?
The title says it all but yeah I'm getting bored grinding for affinity

Which companion are you interested in getting max affinity with?

And there are plenty of YouTube videos available to watch for what you want.

If you haven't accepted her quest yet, you can get repeated likes from part of the initial dialogue of Sierra Petrovita in the Nuka World DLC. There's at least one response most companions will like, and you can just walk away from the conversation and start it again to keep getting that like.

But to avoid boredom, one of the easiest ways is to just take companions with you while doing regular missions. As long as you avoid their specific dislikes, they'll build up their affinity just from hanging around with you, and you won't waste separate time trying to grind it.

The only thing to really watch out for is wasting time when they're waiting for their personal stuff to advance, since a few of them (Cait, Curie, Danse, Maccready, Nick), won't advance past a particular affinity level until you complete an associated quest.

I checked on YouTube for a few guides but most if not all of them are dated 3 or more years back so I'm pretty sure Bethesda might've patched a few of the ways to max their affinity for example I had heard that the downing dogmeat then stiming him up doesn't work anymore
The fandom Wikipedia has affinity charts under most quests that show you character affinity reactions.
Apart from Danse and Nick whose affinity is gated by quests, the other ones you can max their affinity more or less in their sleep. You just hang around with them for a few game days and next thing you know they're making luvvy eyes and throwing themselves at you.

wait so you passively gain affinity?

I used the guides in Steam, but uuuh... yeah they're not 100% up to date. Seems like the wait intervals are greater and the "steal stuff from a container a billion times exiting and loading" didn't work for MacReady.

Is there a console command setaffinity X for an even faster way?

Yes, it goes up every 10 minutes you're hanging out together, so long as you earn some kind of experience during that time (so you can't AFK). It goes up faster at lower affinity, so early on, it will soar. It is sort of boring to farm for affinity, I agree, but you're not really supposed to; if you just travel with them as you play, it goes fairly fast. Some of them are really easy; Cait, Nick, and especially Deacon, since you'll get boosts from picking locks and/or hacking computers. Cait and Hancock can be abused by being in your skivvies. Danse, Preston, and Codsworth can be raised by modifying weapons and armor (well, only weapons for Preston, I believe). Preston will go up very fast if you just do some of his stupid quests. MacCready is one of the harder ones too, because outside of the limited times you can pass charisma checks for pay, he mostly just likes stealing, which isn't very convenient. The true, royal PITA is Strong; he hates everything except murder and cannibalism.

There is. Look up the console commands. I recommend, to avoid possible problems, setting it only to like 249, and then organically earning another point, so you can unlock the next conversation, then set it to 499, earn a point, have the convo, etc. I've done this without an issue. Oh, but don't try to bypass the quest-gated limits, that might cause issues.

Awesome, thanks! Because I am NOT doing everyone's affinity twice.

Strong's main non-dialogue dislike you have to worry about is lockpicking; his dislike for using power armour is only a 1-point dislike (most dislikes are about 7 points), and healing Dogmeat or using vertibirds just aren't common enough to be a big issue.

It's just that there are a lot of unowned locks floating about to annoy him.

There is always the tried and true method of harming dogmeat with drops and then healing him. Everyone likes or loves healing dogmeat.
