Codsworth ran away?
I was buidling stuff in sanc. after an hour or so of that and moving settlers up to sanc. i installed the vault tracker and went to track what comps i could but codsworth wasnt on the list, while i was building he was THERE he kept getting in my way but now he's not on the list or in sanc, went door to door looking, does he run off if you ignore him or something? im not sure how to find him, im on survival non modded if that makes a difference.

Codsworth does not appear on the tracker for some reason. Nor do any of the robots you can make with Automatron. As for where he is, he wanders around Sanctuary a lot. Chances are you just missed him when looking. With the exception of Dogmeat and Piper, companions shouldn't leave their location. (Dogmeat will automatically leave at one point in the main quest, as will Piper.)

Build a bell in Sanctuary. If he is there, he will come to you.
If not, you dismissed him to another settlement. Go to all your settlements, build a bell, ring it.

No, that (the VTPMS) doesn't work on Codsworth. As mentioned already in the thread.

Codsworth is a odd companion when assigning him. I can not get him assigned to any settlement in my play runs other than Sanctuary. I normally assign him as a provisioner between Sanctuary and Red Rocket. And he works fine for that.

And if I do not rescue Preston, he will hang out in front of the SS's house even if I assign him as a provisoner to Red Rocket. But the supply line works. Once I rescue Preston and bring the gang to Sanctuary, he will act like a normal Provisioner and walk between the two settlements. Been that way in every single run I have did.

Curie is another issue with that. Every run, if she is in robot form, if I dismiss her and assign her to a settlement, she will run back to Vault 81. But that can be easily fixed with a console command. However, once I get her max affinity, this does not happen.

I do not consider it a big enough issue with Cogsworth to use a console command, if there is one for him.

Agreed.

I seem to be able to dismiss Codsworth to a settlement (eg Hangman's, Starlight, the Castle), and sometimes assign him to jobs when he's resident there (as a non-current-companion). It's flaky to assign him to a job, but not a 100% fail rate. Unless I just didn't notice.

I have not tried those 3. But this run I am doing now, I wanted him assigned to Greygarden, thinking he would like being around his fellow same model robots ( role playing a little ) and what happened? He ran off to Sanctuary. :P

I usually give him two gattling lasers, good armor and send him to Greygarden (or was it Graygarden?). Anyway, to the robot farm. I do the same with Ada, Curie and the Jezebel. None of them counts as defense, so the settlement will get a lot of attacks. My fast travel mat is on the broken bridge. Nice place to watch them slaughter whatever is stupid enough to attack.
Too bad one cannot upgrade the existing bots over there...
That's such a great idea!

Too bad this game does not have popcorn!

Yeah, I do the same with Ada. And I have not had any issues at all assigning Ada. Anyplace. And I assign her to a guard post there and that does count toward the defense rating.

But Codsworth? Nope. Not sure why, not using any mods and after over 2500+ hrs, he is always this way in every run.
It's possible I've mistaken him idling at a guard post, for actually being assigned to a guard post.

But, no, I've had him running the artillery at Egret Marinas, and not only does the Defense go up, fire rains down on the mutie scrapyard.

(No & never mods in those games, of course.)

Ty for all the reply's! i Ended up building a bell ringing it with him not appearing so i ran across the wasteland and slept for about a week straight and ran back and rang the bell again and he just "appeared" out of nothing!
