I feel your pain. It sucks having to avoid using power armor like the plague as an unarmed character.

i just gave in and put 2 perks into the melee perk and bought a super sledge for those special occasions.

Or you can just make your power armor fists do bonus unarmed damage, or fkn lightning dmg

Isnt the powerfist part of a gauntlet though? How would you wear that over the suit's armor?

Pretty sure the power armor already buffs melee damage though

Unfortunately when wearing a suit of power armor with upgraded fists my damage is a third of what it is when i'm using my powerfist.

i'm not getting the +11 strength the loading screen promised me either. where is my +11 strength, bethesda? i should be at 21 strength but i'm at 12.

I tend to agree not being able to use a power fist with powered armor is silly. Given that Warhammer 40k seems to have popularized the idea and they have space marines running around in powered armor with power fists as a weapon option I'd think there wouldn't be any problem with the visuals at the moment.

That said they probably figured not many people would be doing the whole melee thing, and that the punch-augementors on the armor itself would be enough for those who wanted to box their way accross the wasteland in powered armor.

Of course then again they seemed to want you to only do very specific things with Powered Armor, Fusion Cores are at a premium, I think I had maybe 30 when I finished the game, and this was me only using it for a specific super-high radiation zone (people who beat the game know what I'm talking about) or special climactic battles where I needed the extra damage resistance.

I played as a gunslinger (one handed non-automatic pistols) and was gunning everything down with a custom laser pistol at the end so I confess I didn't really put much thought into the possible plight of entirely melee-centric characters. Given the way you get slammed with so many attacks just trying to line up shots half the time, it doesn't seem like the game was set to be very melee friendly to begin with.

Maybe Obsidian will do another Fallout and watch "Six String Samurai" a few more times, I mean honestly a little achievement pic was not enough of a nod to this ummm... classic. That and "Steel Dawn" (B movie with Patrick Swayze) and maybe Van Damme's "Cyborg" then maybe post apocolyptic melee guys will get more credit. :)

".... only one man could kill that many Russians" ... perhaps some day we'll see that in Fallout. :)

It sets your strength to 11, it doesn't give 11. yours is probably 12 because of a paint

There goes my dream for a utility based power armor build.

+Renegade Points.

I hoarded mini nukes and found a fat man to secure the unique variant of a power fist, then I discovered "Nohpe, can't use power fists with power armor. Your cheeto fingers too fat you smooth skin."

The power fist is satisfying to use, but I have to discover higher armor thresholds before I attempt unarmed outside of power armor. I give the power fist to my companions, but those limp noodle couldn't beat their way out of a barrel full of cookie dough if they tried.

At least they tank good.

Power armor is useless if you're unarmed since it nerfs your damage hard core. It's one of the only specs that I can think of that gets screwed over by it.
