Question about Settlement Farming
When you plant a resource, in my case corn which needs a setterl assigned to it do you need to assign each plan individually or just click a settler and assign to one plant and he will harvest any corn plants?

I ask b/c I just assigned a settler to farm some corn and the icon that shows if they're assigned or not when you mouse over the resource is only lit up on one of them. Even when I tried assigning the same settler to a few plants it would just keep swapping to the most recent. I don't know if that's a development oversight and it's just showing only on the plant he's actively working or what.

I mean I'm assuming he can work more tha one plant as otherwise the number of settlers you'd need to farm would be a bit ridiculous but I'm just trying to verify I'm doing it correctly. Planting as much corn as I can b/c it can be used to make the utility item that gives adhesive which I need. :)

Each settler can work up to 6 crops if I remember correctly. You assign them to one and they'll automatically get assigned to at most 5 others.

It does that for me too. If you go out of build mode and back in it should show them all assigned.

Settlers can farm a maximum of 6 FOOD PER SETTLER. That means 12 plants that provide 0.5 FOOD or 6 plants that provide 1 FOOD. *I am not sure about the 12 plants, I read it on a guide, need confirmation*.

Simply build them in groups of 12 or 6 and assign a settler to just one plant. He will then take the rest automatically.

You assign them to one plant, they will make sure to harvest that one specific plant, and then they automatically assign themselves to any other food resources in that settlement until they produce 6 units of food total.

There is no way to assign them to only one specific type of food resource, other than only planting that food resource and no others for them to search for.

I think it's 6 points rather than 6 crops. I could be wrong, but I think a settler can work a max of 12 plants.

just clarify this. 1 settlers for 6 food, NOT for 6 plants/crops.

The settler will automatically work 6 food worth of plants when you assign them to any crop as long as 6 food worth of plants are open to be worked. I created a Steam Guide about many topics related to settlements. Whether you are starting your first settlement or are trying to figure out how to maximize your gain from your settlements this guide can be helpful to you. I would love some feedback!
