I recently got level 3 of Strong Back, cuz I eventually want level 4. However, Now I auto sprint when encumbered. How can I disable this?

please tell me you're joking. This is the lamest thing I've ever seen. level 4 isn't even worth it if I have to deal with auto sprint each time I'm encumbered. What if I run into a fight inside a building?

Welcome to Bethesda gaming. We don't test our games. :^)

It's not that your character is sprinting, they're just running, but you're overencumbered so it uses AP. If you want to still move while overencumbered but not run, just walk. Caps Lock on the keyboard makes it so you walk. If you use a gamepad, don't tip the stick too far.

Well then is there any way I can reset my perk points? I don't want this. Each time I stop moving it resets. So if I were to stand still and move forward, it would use up my points. However if I kept walking then it's fine, up untin I stop moving and then it causes it to auto drain again.

You could also just unemcumber yourself as well. It say right in the level 3 description that you use AP while moving to run.

Yes, but it says you *can* use AP to run. Not that it will now automatically make you run when encumbered

Until it's fixed, I have removed my point and placed it elsewhere.

For those curious the steps are as follows:
1. Open your console
2. Type: help "perk name" 4
3. copy down corresponding perk level code
4. Type: player.removeperk <code goes here without brackets>
5. Type: help "new perk name you want" 4
7. copy down corresponding perk level code
8. Type: player.addperk <code goes here without brackets>

When not encumbered, yes that's the walk/run toggle. However, shouldn't have to toggle caps lock to sprint, when shift is already the sprint toggle. It's absurd

My character has become addicted to alcohol SO many times because I abuse it to carry more items.

When overencumbered with Strong Back 3, you are not sprinting. You are running at regular speed at the cost of AP. So the walk/run toggle is the one you want to use.

I don't understand what is the issue, the perk works as intended.

In normal state, you can SPRINT - RUN - WALK.

When over-encumbered, you can only WALK.

When using Strong Back perk, you can now RUN at the cost of AP or WALK without a cost as normal over-encumbered state. You cannot SPRINT.

I guess. but it's kinda jarring to have to do that when you're already accustomed to shift as a "gotta go fast" modifier.
