Quest "The Secret of Cabot House" Game breaking bug

So, I'm in the bottom of this house (which has no regular means of escape) at the foot of an elevator and a locked door that an NPC who is with me is supposed to unlock in order for the quest to continue and in order for me to get out of here (the door cannot be unlocked by any other means).

The problem is that he's stuck kneeling by the elevator aiming his gun at the door and he isn't moving at all, nor is he triggering any dialogue other than the automatic stuff like "We must hurry."

Basically, I'm now stuck in a basement of this insane asylum with no way to move forward and thus, my game is broken and unplayable.

Not sure what to do from here besides exit the game and wait for a patch, which is really daunting considering I have so much left to do :/

If you don't mind using the console, you could try to target him and do resurrect? might work.

Resurrect is the command.

Just happened to me too, so you're not alone. Did you ever find a solution? I'm about 6 hours from my last hard save.

My only solution was to go to a quicksave before the asylum and try again :/

stay near the door, open the console, select the door with your mouse so that you see some numbers/letters, type in the console unlock, which should open the door, worked for me.

Kill Jack he will fall down and then ressurect. Go touch the dooe than and he will unlock it

Disable/enable sometimes works as well.

Old topic is indeed useful, my roommate had a variant of this problem just now. Lorenzo can also show up on the far side of this door and is unable to open it from there. He also can't be seen to kill/rez, unlocking the door with the console makes him derp a bit, but once he re-enters the room and you talk to him his AI seems to catch up just fine.

its different for me im just outside the office of the dude and hes just stuck moving in one place
