Ran out of steel

well in fallout 4 i have ran out of things to scrap and have no steel. and also there has got to be another way then just buying stuff from the market or collecting materials with steel in.

I find it hard to believe you ran out of things to pick up and scrap. Tag steel for search at a crafting table or workshop and pick up literally anything.

Once steel is gone from town sights (also many linked via supply runs), its buy, pick up junk, or brake down guns.

Damn man that is a lot of steeel you have burned through. Pretty much just buy or use console I think are your only options left.

open console "help steel 4" to get id of all items associated with steel.
type "player.additem ID X"
ID is the item id you got with the help command and X the ammount.

When u did everything right it would look like...
"player.additem 000731A4 100"


edit: this is a major way to cheat....

Heck, steel is one of the items that often has "big" supply orders (like Supply Shipment - 100). You can buy it cheap. Most weapons dismantle into some amount of steel.

Also, like the others, I seriously doubt you've run out of steel. Are you intentionally not dismantling parts of settlements? As wrecked cars and such provide fairly good sources.

Once you have scrapped everything within the green smoke around the building area, just travel to a lot of places you don't go/use. Scrap everything there, return to your place of construction, and resume building.

No, the scrap bench, as in the buildable resource station. You build one and assign a settler to it, and they'll gradually deposit scrap(including steel) into the settlements workstation. Build one at each of your settlements.

Not recommending, but if all other options annoy (i.e. playing the game), you can just "cheat", open the console ~, then type tgm. Will enable god mode where you will have unlimited resources upon other things.
