There was something like that in New Vegas where Veronica would cheer if you gave her a dress, but it's never commented on past that and doens't bring up any perk or benefit.
She's just teasing you - There are no gifts in the game, only dialogue that they agree with (or disagree with) that change their relationship with you.
Doesn't that means that some companions would be way easier to gain affinity then others?
"Paladin Danse, I'm looking at you! Giving me a like every time I step into power armor, tells me a lot about whats goes on in your mind." :P
Dragon Age - Skyrim didn't have this either. In fact it didn't have a "like" system at all.
Maybe it'll be explained soon, or activated with a patch?
May be the items we give have to match a list of what they want?
*For those companions that does have a like from being given gifts.
OH OKAY...
Alright, I actually bought the strategy guide and it has a list of things that characters like/dislike. One of Curie's is sharing stims and chems, so I think there actually might be something to the whole "gift" thing after all.
I personally never had to do anything special to get Curie to like me - It only took a few missions if I recall.
