I've never been attacked by BOS. Codsworth was after he accidently hit a BOS dude, but they left me alone. I did Glowing Sea with Nick, another time with Danse. I joined the Railroad before BOS and I was sent to find the Railroad by BOS to decode the Courser chip.
I have also jumped into BOS firefights against supermutants, raiders and Gunners and loot both sides. Ran into BOS near Hangman's Alley before joining, and they pretty much just say 'move along' or something or that they're too busy to talk.
I have zero mods. This game, I haven't been able to use Danse as a companion. I did something different, but don't remember what it was. I'm at the Institute now. Haven't looked it up, but apparently from other posts I've read, I will eventually end up with Danse as a companion
As for ghouls, BOS hates them. There is a quest involving ghouls and BOS and they take a very hard line against them.
I've also done the Robotics park, but with Cait and no blowback from BOS. And, as has already been noted, Gunners do hijack BOS vertibirds and attack.
All the Brotherhood leader has to say to you is, 'cant talk right now I'm busy'. (even though he just stands there doing ♥♥♥♥ all)
As leader of the Institute I notice I am cheap on guns which must cost more in the long run on synth production. The institute provides the checkpoint synths with little 20dmg pistols against mobs that carry 100dmg weapons.
This has never happened to be before or after the Robotics Pioneer Park .. whether the BoS was in the Commonwealth or not.
Mods? Anybody using them?
Other way it could have been those raiders chasing me or BoS accidentally shot me while shooting raiders, that could posibly haped? Any way I saw a red laser that hit me... I also saw BoS soldiers who have red laser guns
¹ If power armor pieces are in inventory, but you're not currently wearing a frame displaying the stolen pieces, then Brotherhood soldiers won't detect your possession of stolen goods.
Somewhere in this forum, in other threads, this matter has been discussed at greater length, from more authoritative sources. I learned these alleged facts from them. If you have any question in your mind, I'm pretty sure the items would be red-texted in your inventory—the specific circumstances elude me, but I foggily remember experiencing this phenomenon personally.
I've never heard of any chem that makes NPCs hostile when ingested by the Sole Survivor.
So, color me puzzled.
I'm sorry your highness, my humblest apologies. I hope this is more understandable.
OVERIVEW
The Targeting HUD mod for Power Armor and the Berry Mentats chem both grant an ability to the player that highlights live NPCs, Robots, and Creatures. Anyone in visual range of the player while they have either of these effects will be highlighted with a red-orange glow.
THE PROBLEM
Certain NPCs, particularly those from factions that are neutral and/or potentially hostile to you, will immediately turn hostile and attack the player if they approach while wearing Targeting HUD-equipped Power Armor or under the effects of Berry Mentats. This is due to the way the highlight effect works: internally it is treated as a "magic effect" (since Fallout 4's engine is related to the Skyrim engine), and the AI is set to treat any spell or magic effect from a potentially hostile target as a hostile act.
