Brotherhood of Steel Attacking me.

Hey all, Iam just wondering if this has happened to anyone else in the game. I just got past killing Kellogg and doing the memory quest and the Brotherhgood of Steel showed up flying over and I got the quest to go meet them. Well I decided to wait because I read that Nick doesnt like them so I want to finish the quests with him at the Glowing Sea before I start them. On my way to get my power suite I had stored at the first railroad station near the Red Rocket I killed the ghouls who had returned and then hoped in the suit and before I could even kill all the ghouls a big ass ship came out of nowhere and it said Brotherhood of Steel and the mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lit me up and dropped 4 guys in Powersuits and chased me to my nearest settlement. So Iam wondering whats up? Are they hostile until I meet them or did I piss them off? Or do they not like people wearing Powersuits? Id rather not have them dropping in on me like that all the time. Any info is much obliged!

So much for the BoS saying when they first arrive: "we come in peace". Yeah right.
If you join the BoS via Danse before the arrival of the Prydwen they should lay off you unless you attack them first.

it probably happened since you are with the railroad, I don't know this problem since I attack the BoS whenever they appear even at the airbase since they're a bunch of essentially racists to both synths and robots
it may just be this string but it made me sad... until I got more armour for my power suits

You're trying to enter the Glowing Sea; that's considered off-limits to normal people; once the Brotherhood of Steel arrive; they will attack anybody who attempts to enter it. I was allied with the Brotherhood and they still assaulted me for trying.

It's best to sneak in from the southern most bridge. They don't patrol down there.

I can confirm, this is a bug in the game's coding.

The BoS starts attacking you, if you piss them off somehow.
But if you go to the Robotics Pioneer Park and start killing the ghouls there, the BoS becomes hostile.


I tested this 6 times and the same thing happened over and over again:


-I'm with the Minutemen, don't have the castle
-At Robotics Pioneer Park

1) Me and Nick both in Power Armor - 4 vertibirds around us dropping soldiers on us, couldn't stand a chance against my Gauss rifle
2) Same as the above, except no Power Armor - same outcome
3) Me alone in Power Armor - 3 vertibirds, same outcome
4) Me without any armor or clothes - 4 vertibirds, same outcome

-I'm with the BoS, visited the Prydwen, started doing quests for them
-At Robotics Pioneer Park

5) Me and Paladin Danse, both in PA - 5 vertibirds, even Paladin Danse became hostile, same outcome, i had to get rid of him with the console, or he wouldn't die and kept shooting me.

6) Me and Nick, both in PA - we stood away from the Robotics Pioneer Park, they didn't become hostile.


To prevent this bug, stay away from the Robotics Pioneer Park.
To fix this bug, there's a console command to make the BoS friendly again or sleep for 2 ingame days

P.S.
In a Minutemen/Raliroad/Institute playthrough this can be helpfull, you can gather a whole lot of T-60 PA pieces, I walked away with over 10 of each PA piece, i was so glad i had the Personal Vertibird mod installed, or it would have been a long walk home.
At least now i got a cause why to destroy the BoS ;)

Yeah, I just had something similar happen a while back. I was exploring downtown Boston and found some BoS dudes attacking a group of raiders. I helped them finish the raiders off and started looting corpses.

When I was going to leave the area, I passed right next to a Knight and the whole group turned hostile and lit me up. I killed them, went down the street, and there was a Vertibird dropping off another group somewhere else. They weren't hostile at all. Like nothing happened.

So I just stay away from them at this point.They'll get what's coming to them when I join the railroad this playthrough...

Only time iwe been attacked by BoS when not due to factional opposites was due to colatheral damage ie big explotions, a stray bullet and the like.

If u did the quest at the police station and said the wrong answer then they are hostile and will attack you for some reason.

This happened too when I stole a power armor suit. Seems normal until you consider that they found out when no one was in sight and there was a bug that just made the word "danger" stay on my screen, so i could be detected from any distance

It also happens when you have the visor upgrade in your helmet or you're under the affect of those mentats that work as a visor. This also affects certain storyline npc's.
Bethesda didnt fix it till now, but mods did.

the only time the BOS became hostile to me was when me and Danse where killing SM.

One SM was standing in front of a BOS and I head shot the super mutant with a combat shot gun. I figured the spread must have hit the BOS guy, because Danse didn't like that and left me as a companion and they all became hostile.

According to this i'd rather have railroad+minutemen as main factions,
I don't want the institute anyways cuz they brainwashed my son when he was young (I think) and hes supporting it now.
BOS looks like douches killing anything for something usefull they find now.
I mean they start shooting you randomely?
