So i decided to build my main settlement @ the Castle. after furnishing it, putting up some lights, turrets, etc etc. it has become maxed out on "Size" is there a way to increase size of your settlement?

They probably put in a limit for consoles so that they don't break their game but like the guy linked above you can remove it on PC.

There is no way in the game (meaning without modding) to increase the size of a settlement. If you have any other settlement questions I am wrote a guide about everything I have learned so far. Please let me know if you find out how to do so without mods!

if you dont want cheat engine, just add the console commands yourself here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=563429892

Also, if you drop guns in your settlement (specifically guns) and use the building mode to "store" them in the workbench, it thinks you're putting items away and lowers the 'size' bar. Completely vanilla and takes a little bit of time, but works on console or PC.

The gun-drop-trick is the best. Doesn't require any mods and works on all platforms. See the video for step by step instructions if unsure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdhf2E42z8M

And FYI, my Sanctuary is now double size as normally possibly and even on PS4 I don't have any frame drop issues with it. (Unlike some areas in the Institute's end-game missions...)

This works like a charm. So easy. Just load up 20 guns, drop them in a room, go into "build mode" and click each gun on the floor and store them. Do this twice, which takes about 5 minutes, and you'll have limitless space. My castle is crazy big just by using this method.

+1 I use the armor/weapon/junk drop trick as well, and enter workshop to scrap them, no mod required
bLaCkShAd0w Dec 28, 2015 @ 10:02am
Console method:

Make sure the red workshop bench is selected in the console.

"getav 349"
"getav 34B"

Gets current size limits.

"setav 349 ###"
"setav 34B ###"

Replace the ### with a bigger number than the getav values to increase. Or lower it to decrease.

I find you want to keep the limit bar in the yellow otherwise there is happiness bugs etc.

Dumping items onto the ground increases settlement size.

The easy thing to do is do what I do. Whenever you fill up on items form clearing missiosn and such go to the settlement you want to increase the size on. Dump eveyrthing onto the ground, then scrap or store it.

The gun thing works but sometimes a gun will glitch and you will lose it

this "Size" is confusing some people. i was looking for increasing the size of the settlement and not the increase off objects placeble in the settlemet.
