Maybe my character accepts that his kid is gone, or dead, and he just wants to survive
Make world appear hostile and you can easily justify main hero loosing it. After all we are not talking about civilian that never killed a fly,it is a soldier that came back from frontlines not so long ago, maybe even with mental traumas, and then those dirty smelly stupid nobodies from the future killed his SO and kidnapped kid.
I dont see how alternate starting points changes in F4. Its always been a bit immersion breaking. Not a big issue if you want it there but doesnt change much.
You're right, I didn't even think about that brotherhood part
Yeah, they don't even show up in force until you're about halfway through the main story
Its the same thing as 3.... the main quest is always there. Having to find your father...having to find your kid. Its literally the same thing. I don't see what would keep these alternate start mods from happening if they have done so already.
Well with skyrim and 3, your character was still an open slate
More so with skyrim, you were nothing
in fallout 3 yeah you were part of a vault and had a family, but you could still be a super mega douche right off the bat. 4 plays to the entire role that you're a loving family man who had a perfect picket fence life prior to the bombs
