Power armor too strong?
Hey guys,

whats your opinion about the power armor?
I thinks the power armor is kinda strong against almost everything, even more if you fight with meele weapons. The only exception would be all these bugs, their poison is more dangerous then any deathclaw.

Also it feels like Ive got unlimited supply of fusion cores, almost got 20+

Set difficulty to survival and you will see that power armour is necessary.
I have max upgraded X-01 and its not too powerfull and i can still get badly hurt.

I half agree. I think early on it's not too overpowered, especially on higher difficulties, because chances are you aren't swimming in power cores and are rocking a peashooter that takes fifty shots to kill a low ranked raider. But once you've got a strong weapon and a surplus of fusion cores then yeah I agree, especially on lower difficulties, and even more so if you recruit a companion and also put them in power armor and a good weapon.

As has been pointed out if you stick it on Survival then it's overwhelming superiority isn't quite as noticeable. But the game is definitely heavily loaded the further you get in, in other words the strong get stronger and in this game you can only go up the more you have.

can still die instantly on survival difficulty from a mine or a frag, and some weapons with explosive perks can completely obliderate power armor.

Agreed. I have had multiple issues where the leg armor gets damaged bad enough that I lose my carry capacity. Full X-01 too.

PA has fuel, repair costs, and a sort of annoying HUD for me. It seems fine on Survival. Keep in mind some enemies also bypass PA (and nearly all other) armor by doing poison damage. Massive amounts of it at that.

I had HUGE (And still have) issues with maintaing it ... it is hard to mantain AND it is fueled ... so yeah it supposed to be strong. Otherwise you would just improve your basic armor ... i am glad they make it that way.

Just yesterday we had a thread saying power armor was too weak.
Reverend Belial Nov 20, 2015 @ 3:41pm
If anything it's too weak. I do think that it's too easy to get (although it's an extremely minor complaint given the ample lore reason for why there's so much power armor scattered about), but once you're in a suit (even a basic T-45) you should be a force to be reckoned with and if you're in a T-51 or above you should be literally untouchable by anyone bringing anything less than a Fat Man or by some of the larger mutants.

@Belial If you would kill everything without any difficult the game would be broken, thats my opinion. I'm playing on survival difficult, and I still get killed sometimes (T60-B). I just think it needs a bit more protection against poison and less protection against for example deathclaws. ( also I never had problems with fusion cores!)

I hope that the X-01 wont be OP if full upgraded

Imo even on survival Power Armor is too powerful and fusion cores being limited in the beginning isnt enough to counteract this. Unless your that kind of person that just focuses on blazing through quests without exploring you will find plently of fusion cores at the start if you are looking for them.

So i think the discussion should be more about how efficient power armor is as opposed to finding cores to use it. If you look at it this way its broken as hell in terms of overall stats and benefits. There is literally no point in NOT using it without even a single point put into a power armor related perk.

Personally i doubt Bethesda will do much to adress this unless people really care enough. But hey.. mods. lol

I for one value lore accuracy over arbitrary difficulty. Raiders or Super Mutants (to a slightly lesser extent) should only be able to bring down people in power armor through sheer numbers or through clever traps, not popping the plates off with a few shots of their pipe rifle. I do agree though that Deathclaws do less damage than they should against armored opponents (although maybe I shouldn't complain about that since they do absurd amounts of damage despite that fact anyway).

No no many super mutants pack missiles and sucide rush you with a fat boy nuke, so its not the end all be all there is plenty out there that should wreck a power suit users day if they don't play with some strat. Because of that I like it, early on its god mode but can't use it that often unless your memorizing every single power core location and farming them, using console codes, or the exploit where you pick pocket them off brotherhood.

I hoard my power cores for when I feel in over my head, I take the power armor out very rarely, insted just got a few old t-45s I recued sitting in my main base covered in rust becuase I hoard those as well lol.

The hard part is making it perfect, not too weak since you can just roll in with armor but not too strong that its all you wear.

Im playing hard difficulty and i suppose it is pretty powerful, T45 E.

Whats more difficult is the idea of "i nvr use it unless its an emergency or i need it". Its not like you can summon your suit from the ether. You either use it all the time or you never use it. The alternative is wander the waste, find a deathclaw, kite it all the way home where your powerarmors are stored.

Im glad it is strong. The T51s were used against the chinese. Those modern weapons coudlnt take down power armor, i sure as hell would be offended if simple pipe guns could.
