Junk Fence or regular walls?
To create a fence around your perimeter, can you just use regular walls, or are they more fragile than the junk fences? The junk fences leave gaps big enough for someone to walk right in between then if you don't line them up correctly.

Unless I'm horribly mistaken, they don't have durability. Also, even after 60+ hours playtime I haven't had a single settlement get raided beyond the occasional radscorpion or boatfly that comes within range of my outposts.

Regular wall "sticky" properties makes them extremely annoying to place if your entire perimeter isn't in very straight lines. No flexibility of angle like junk walls.

And yeah...enough security and settlement raids are so rare it's not funny. Just don't rely on a huge perimeter only - they may spawn inside the walls anyway.

really don't bother with this. It took a long time to wall off sanctuary and another medium-sized area and it just wasn't worth it in the end. If you make your defense score too good, it simply won't get attacked anyway.

There is no fragility between walls or fenses. You can shoot a mini-nuke at it yourself and if you can't damage the walls, then the enemies can't damage it.

If you want to make your junk fences connect, place it on a rug and move the rug around, the game only considers the collision detection of the rug so the junk fence can be clipped into other fences to remove gaps.
Ive successfully made a junk wall 90% of the way around Sanctuary using this method.

I heard your resources need to be higher than your defenses to be attacked.

I get more irritated with the terrain height issues of fencing placement than slight gaps in the walls. I've yet to be unable to close a gap...but I hate it when the fence looks like it's half-floating on air, even if I can't actually move "under" it. :D

I use the junk fence that has the tires in it for when that happens. That particular fense is good for slopes because the tires generally go into the ground a bit.

Oh really? I generally don't like the tire fences and haven't used them much. I'll have to try that. Thank you. :)

you could also place the wooden floor with concrete as a base for the fences, provides a nice flat surface.
