Just position the platform under the main powered up part and it will get it's power that way.

well you place it under the Beam emitter [ tall tower ]
make sure there is no rug underneath aswell.

ive found the game screws up when you build the platform etc for the railroad crew, but 2nd time i did it for the brotherhood it worked fine

the control console acted like a powered off switch for me...had to run a seperate line to each unit. Also the thing does not work at all if put on a player-constructed floor. Has to be "natural" ground.

There's a thread entitled: Unable to power up signal Interceptor.

It might have some tips that will get it working for you. Sorry I don't know how to link to that thread, just search for it maybe.

i thought it would have been sorted by now

Laugh but I fixed this by building three of everything along with like 10 generators to power it all and i had to remove ALL the scrap metal on the site. Kudos on the rug tip.

6 and a half years later i am wondering the same:steammocking:

My platform keeps asking for power as well, no matter what i do. Looks like a game breaking bug for now. Maybe ill try again some day, unless someone knows a solution :-)

Would help to know whether you are using any mods. Including Workshop Framework. That one specifically messed with other mods power lines.

Obvious question is obvious: you did connect ALL THREE PIECES with power lines, right? And connected them to their control computer?

All the pieces need to be sitting directly on the ground. Putting them on any sort of foundation causes these issues.

This. There are a couple of mods that partially fix this though, like Better Settlement Teleporters, but the parts of the first teleporter still have to be first placed on "natural" (not player constructed) ground. Once they are wired together though, you can move them around. There's really no point to making it look fancy anyway as the thing self-destructs after use and has to be scrapped anyway.

You leave and enter workbench and quest should progress futher

Yep, scrapping the rug underneath the components fixed the issue for me. So stupid lol. Thanks

What fixed the issue for me was moving the emitter to more level ground. Then, I was able to attach the platform underneath it.
