Can't leave a silver shroud calling card

So, I got the armor and the gun from Kent, but when i killed the first guy, it says press
Y to leave a calling card, and that's what I did, except nothing happens, can't leave a card
by pressing Y, can't remove the cards from inventory, and all that.

Reposting this here, too, for anyone who comes across this in a Google search like I did... hope it helps.

This broke my brain, as it's clearly bugged, but I figured out how to do it... definitely not on accident while angrily mashing a bunch of keys...

After you kill someone as the Silver Shroud it will prompt you with a key to press to place the calling card. Pressing this key doesn't work. BUT, if you ZOOM IN ON THE DAMN BODY (aim at the corpse down sights with your gun), then the key it prompts you to press CHANGES to your "transfer" key, which will then place the calling card.

I placed the card but the mission keeps saying i have to place the card but i placed it already!

The solution is to not use energy weapons that messes up the body and turns it into goo/dust.
If you have the unofficial patch it stops the bodies from becoming goo/dust.

Or you have some other bug that I don't know off, does it happen everytime you try to place the card? If you load an earlier save that is?

Try console commands to skip quest to next part I guess so you can progress

I had this issue because I was trying to swap the card from the inventory menu. Accessing the body from the outside has a unique prompt.

I used the mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32768 to be able to place the card in the corpse's inventory., like a trade. I was able to continue the quest normally.
