Fallout4 demo
My question is, why doesn't steam/ all the big devs give people a demo to try and play the game first before buying.I have no problem with fallout4 at all, zero, zip.Game is running way perfect then i thought it would for me.I feel like it would make almost everyone happy to be able to demo a game first before buying it.

Making a demo for this would be costly. Some games have no excuse, but this isn't an easy type of game to demo.

I mean, how would they even do a demo for a game like this?

Because that takes time and therefore money.

They know you'll buy it. They know they will get media coverage. Big name companies do not NEED to release a demo to get you to buy their game.

Most companies that release demos are ones who are not sure they will get the same publicity as a Fallout 4 will. It use to be Sony would compile demos of games and release them via some gaming magazines. That stopped way back when the PS2 was still in its prime though.

So your short answer is they do not need to convence you to buy the game.

Because sales will drop.

Because a demo would be 15 to 20 GB because of the texture useage

Because making a demo costs devtime/money and will only put people off playing. And why put money into letting people buy a game on its merits when you can just put money into generating hype and letting people buy it on wishful thinking?

It isn't like Bethesda (the publisher) hasn't done demos recently. Complex sandboxes however don't exactly lend themselves to easy creation of demos.

The dev costs would be better spent on patches or future content.

Because Steam offers refunds - Which costs Bethesda money.

The day of demos are over. You'll have to deal with it - And hope other webstores adapt to Steam standards.

Steam was pretty much the last major store to offer refunds. The only places that don't really do refunds now are places legitimately selling keys, cause the infrastructure isn't really there.

Isn't it obvious... It makes no sense for -AAA- companies to release demo's.. Released games have so 'much' quality they wouldn't sell 10% of what they do now when people just plunge into it and pre-order like crazy.. Plus it takes time to create a demo.. Time better spent in trying to lure people into buying a a broken and bugged game.

-AAA- companies are laughing their asses off tbh.

No they most certainly were not - They are the first digital store that I know of (and I know quite a lot) where you can buy an entire game and refund it WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS within a 2 hour playing window.

I'm a EU citizen - We've had mandatory refunds for a lot of reasons for many, many years.

They were the last with a refund policy.

You're going to have to expand on that argument - A lot.

Add invisible walls so you can only explore a small portion of the map. I can easily see a demo letting you do the quest in concord and nothing else
