Converting the Combat Rifle .45 to .38 - good replacement for pipe rifles?
As you progress through the levels you are able to unlock Gun nut rank 4. This allows the Combat Rifle to use the .38 and .308 round.

What i was wondering is, is it worth having a secondary Combat Rifle using .38 instead of your Pipe Rifles and pistols (I use an auto pipe rifle on ghouls and other irrelevant stuff as the .38 round is found in abundance). Though the only concern i have with this is that it doesn't seem to be automatic, and you can have Pipe Rifles that are... Automatic.

So, Anyone done this yet :D

I'd kill for the option to convert the Submachine gun to .38
It's useless when you can just use the Combat rifle instead.

Yea, sounds like it would be ideal, that was my only concern, as the Submchine Gun has insane RoF and the Combat Rifle is semi automatic.

I really dislike the pipe weapon collection. It really brings out the apocalypes but I just cant do it. so ugly and useless

WHat is worse is that you find them everywhere, even in placed that are supposed to be sealed since pre-war... why would anyone have a pipe weapon in a safe before the war started?

I agree, but If used right, you can have a fully upgraded .50/.45 rifle within an hour of playing the game.

THIS all of this, right here.

Pipe guns are supposed to be akin to 'zip guns', a replacement for a world where pre-war arms may be a bit more rare. But you find them in ruins untouched by scavvers or raiders since before the war... why? I like that they tried to make crude/primitive guns to balance out the pre-war armaments, but theres just so damn many of them and theres really no difference in appearance between them. Mass-produced pipe/zip guns should look crude as hell, but NOT identical. I'm eagerly awaiting Bethesda releasing proper modding tools so we can see some more diversity in gun skins or just weapons altogether.
