Unsolvable terminals..

I may just not be looking hard enough, but I swear Ive come across a few that just leave no words left through process of elimination.

A word gives me 0 likeness, so only a handful of words left. I click on that, and likeness= 0 again.

Well I've put roughly 20 more hours into F4 than you and I have yet to run into an unsolveable terminal.

i've noticed some that only have 2 out of ten that are even similar to each other, but everyone is solvable. Just leave the terminal after 3 attempts and try again.

I'm going to say impossible. They had this hacking puzzle in 3 games. I'm sure there's no unsolvable puzzles and also never in my life I had a unsolvable hacking puzzle from fo3, NV and now fo4.

You know you can remove duds and reset your allowances right? Not gonna lie I didn't realize it back in Fallout 3 and found out in New Vegas.

I think there are some rare cases when actual solution gets removed instead of dud, but it is under very low chance, i had maybe 0,01% such cases

What's the difference between the try reset and dud removal codes? I hate when I first open up a terminal and the first cluster of symbols I click resets my tries instead of removes a dud.

Likeness entry = 0 So any words with DA...

Likeness entry = 0 So...that means DA isnt in the damn solution.

I noticed recently a few terminals that seemed to not have a solution that matched the clues i was given last night.

The Fallout series always did a terrible job at explaining Hacking.

So, you might choose some word that says it has "3 letters similar" and there's no other words that can even match that.

Those are duds. If you don't look for closed brackets and parenthesis and click them, you will have fake answers that will throw you off the trail.

Which is a lame mechanic, because sometimes those brackets reset your number of tries so you don't want to do it early.

So... it's not a glitch. It's just hacking is a stupid minigame.

The minigame is easy, I've stopped thinking about it and it's easier.

Drill down the left side until I have one chance left. Use all hints/ and get reset. Then keep going and it's open.

Likeness means the right letter in the right place. In your example:

DEAD having 1 meaning one of those letters would be in the right spot.
STEP shouldn't have been picked because it has zero letters that line up with any in DEAD.
DRAW having 0 likeness means the first D and A aren't the likeness matches from DEAD.
