You can save him, just answer as Shroud and when the option that presents itself to persuade him to kill you first select that
Another method is loading a previous save, but I have already done that many times.
I have resorted to going back the the time RIGHT before I became the Silver Shroud and just not give him the stuff until I can either get really good weapons and VATS or it is patched.
I am very fortunate that I save quite often, and have a few saves a certain points, which I don't save over. It seems not doing the quest is the easiest way at the moment to get around the bug. If anyone else has any other ways to get around this bug or knows of ways to fix it, that would be very nice.
That's how I saved Kent.
I can't even get to the stage where I can speak to him. I approch to the spot where I can speak, and he starts a passive conversation, but right in the middle of the sentence he says the next part of dialouge, and shoots Kent. I stop right when I get to the part where he starts speaking, but he always acts like I've come too close.
You can always speak as Shroud.
Just use VATS with a gauss rifle the second he is ready to kill Kent.
i love u
This helped me so much! Kent was consistenly shot the moment I got off the elevator, *way* before I could do anything about it. I had no problem using a console cheat to correct an unintended glitch. Yay!
The toggle AI command really helped. Thought of making Kent essential, but this was much easier and logical.
