Shack wall vs junk barricade
Do they offer the same level of protection if I'm to use them for settlement perimeter wall? Provide with barricades are they often leave a big gap between each one.

I have sustained a heavy assault so far but I hear rocket launchers may involve in the attack when things get heated.

The walls are indestructable.
You can shoot over say... a picket fence, but not a tall wall.

Otherwise, it's just esthetics.

In other words, barricade is just an excuse to waste more resources?

Junk Fences are easier to place then walls since they don't try to auto lock on to nearby objects.

Junk barricades will eat into your settlement size budget much faster than walls.

It's pretty much the only advantage of it I've seen so far. However like I've said, they can easily leave big gaps between each other as the system won't allow you to overlap them.

A mod already exists removing the limit.

Yea, that's pretty annoying. You can use walls to fill in gaps in sensitive spots.
