Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Sorry, probably a touchy subject for some people, but I thought US drop atomic bomb in japan, how did japan manage to rebuild so fast? what happen to the radiation fallout and radiation?
Atomic bomb not the same as nuclear bomb??

Compare to fallout 4, the rebuild time is just amazing

it was still there.

Also, there's a large difference between a small part of the world being nuked and the entire damn thing being nuked to the point of being nearly unlivable

I think the nukes they had by 2077 (when the bombs fell) were many times more destructive than the Atom Bomb

The nuclear warheads currently in use are as well.... (irl btw). just one missile could render a large area inhospitible and irradiated

Children still are born ill because of these bombs
I still think that the US was hit with only one nuke, and it was a chain reaction of nuclear cars blowing up across the country that left it in the state it's in.

Damn Chryslers..
one word. Mods.

I agree that their use was an atrocity....but think of how different the world could have been had the Axis powers wiped out the western world...the entire planet, governed by a dictator...or maybe something similar to what's in Papers Please?

fallout takes place after a war where pretty much all of the world was nuked, there is no one to repair it. but if the game was realistic there would be way more mutated humans

If I remember correctly both Hiroshima and Nagasaki got a ton of financial support from the national government after the war. It's pretty safe to assume after the bombs fell in Fallout there wasn't much of a government left/willing to help rebuild. On top of that I'm pretty sure these bombs are much worse than the ones dropped during WWII. Considering that even todays nuclear weapons are much more destructive, I'm sure the Fallout nukes where much crazier. Especially when the the world has been at war for decades and their weapon technology has advanced so much.

I think by the time we bombed Japan, the Allies had essentially won considering Japan was the only one left so I don't think it would've been that drastic a change

Though I may be getting someting muddled
It is because the bombs in Japan exploded above ground. Fallout bombs were direct hits to the surface causing effects that are much different

Japan was struck with two low yield nuclear weapons. The nations of the Fallout universe had thousands before the war and, if the Glowing Sea is anything to go by, their stockpiles included multi-megaton weapons. They also had ICBMs, if their massive bomb stockpiles were not devastating enough.

The bombs used in WW2 are firecrackers compared to what exists today.

Most of the ill effects of nuclear fallout (in the real world at least) are due to fairly short half life elements that have almost completely decayed by now. Fallout 4 is Science Fantasy, not future documentary.
