Nick (well, all of them as far as I know -- maybe not the Handy-bots) will also scoop up weapons and use them with infinite ammo in lieu of their usual infinite ammo stock weapon. Doesn't work if you give it to them, has to be their choice. Nick finished his personal story in my game while holding an assault rifle :D:

if you have acces to commands for PC, you press the little ~ next to the 1 and type in equipitem and just look up the ID for the item you want the character to wear. so for example if you wanted Nick Valentine to wear Silver Shroud costume you would click on nick and type in, equipitem 002f525 and then press enter and your done!:steamhappy:

And yeah Nick can only be equipped with faded trenchcoat.
That guy is right:steamhappy:

Whatever you do DO NOT DO THIS. It turns him into the Invisible Man.

I thought I saw a guy on the tube that gave Nick the same clothes with Ballistic weave. Naver tried it myself.

^^ Faded Trench coat , you get from Nick as a Reward. Can be upgraded with Ballistic weave. It even fixes his broken hand. Also if you leave a screw driver in Nick's Inventory, He'll sometimes Idle animate using it to fix his damaged hand

This is intentional because his outfit is special, his coat is not the same as the one he gives you, his out fit has a "glove" that gives him his exposed synth hand, if you use the console to give him any different outfit his exposed hand turns to a normal covereed synth hand.

I know this is REALLY late, but I just did something that works
you open the console, press nick and writes: setrace human
then he will bugg out and his body gets removed, but once you give him some kind of clothing it comes back

Yeah, that is not going to bork Nick's scripts. Live by the ~

Well I know its been a while but I thought I would share with you all... Put Nick in power armor, and enter his inventory... You can then see his original coat to take and weave up... he will be naked with a fixed hand until you give his coat back.

You can also instruct him to inspect certain traps (most notably grenade bouquets and flamethrower traps, but only enemy-made ones), and when he does so, he will revert to his original equipment, unequipping whatever else he is using.

With Cait, Hancock, Old Longfellow, Piper, and Preston Garvey, this causes them to generate a new copy of their original outfit.

different companions...different needs. Once i had Curie in human (well, android) form, I tucked her into a baseball uniform...tho you can garb her as G.I. Jane if you wish. The main point is to get your companion into both a hat AND body garb which will accept the ballistic weave. I then further added some decent armor which WILL fit over the baseball suit, effectively giving her three layers of this n that....and yes, the stats did add... Somewhere in WIKI-land, you can find a listing of which attire will accept stat boosts from ballistic weave and which won't. Important to REM U can add weave to both headgear AND body wear
***The baseline question then becomes: can you add ballistic weave to Nick's coat, (and hat)? If not, consider doing ken and barbie dress-up and swapping his outfit altogether.
