Lore question: Why does the world look like its from the 50's?
Before the nuke, in 2077, why did people have technology from the 50's yet they had robots and all that?

Its either an alternate dimension where their lifestyle just resembles what the 50's/60's looked like in ours, or its an example of the past resurfacing, like how fashions repeat themselves every few decades (but to a ridiculous, over-the-top level).

Fallout is the future as envisioned in the 50s.
With some liberties taken for the sake of convenience, humor and style.

It's an alternate version of earth where the technology kept developing, but the styles remained close to the 50s.

Mhm, thanks for the answers, I was suspecting a parallel universe where they innovated in different domains but I wasn't sure about it.

Because this.

The Fallout world is an anachronistic setting historically divergent from our own and fundamentally different from our universe in how the laws of science work. The base concept for the setting is a mid 20th century World of Tomorrow, a future as envisioned through the lens of the Atomic and Jet Ages. The Fallout world is a satirical, post-apocalyptic depiction of the future envisioned by Americans between the late 1940s and early 1960s.

Because they discovered fusion and life was perfect after WW2 but it later deteriorated. Watch the intro vid again. It's basically an alternate timeline.

As Godisnoah Fallout 4 Hype said, they never invented the transistor. The people just kept pushing forward with nuclear power. So computers never progressed past what we see. That is why they have laser weapons, mech suits, and all vehicles are "futuristic". They were nuclear powered cars.

Oooh I get it now, it makes so much more sense now that I think about it! They went crazy into exploiting nuclear energy and developping their tech with it instead of with computerization.
I think that live action intro explains it quite well :D I mean its really short but I got basics from it.

In the 1950's there was a hightened fear of somekind of a nuclear catastrophy yet the experts where trying to downplay the potential dangers of a nuclear fallout. The game is set in an alternate universe where the 50's never really ended. Also the game portays a view of the 21st century that people of the 50's had. Like these huge personal computers and cooking robots. But yeah, there's definately is a plothole if you think too much about it. Like how come culture didn't advance in over 100 years and in 2077 they where still listening to Cole Porter like it was the greatest ever. Don't get me wrong, Cole Porter is the greatest!

Also just like steampunk takes on the idea of "what if the latest technology was still powered by steam", Fallout takes on the same idea with a little more advanced technology.
