My power armor disappeared ???

No the icon disappeared.
This is a bit dumb, I know in real life you would get it stolen, but this is a video game ...

Also, even if you did lose it, you can find another one or use a console.

Well, similar to what the others mentioned, if you leave your power armor at a populated settlement, the settlers might take it for a joy ride if they get attacked

Did you leave it in the Power Armor thingy where you can customize it? If not then thats why because if you dont leave it on the Power Armor Station it will disappear.

yeah, you have to guard your stuff.

Valuables left in boxes can get stolen, too, so lock everything down or assume someone can steal it.

I mean, you found that power armor, right? And most of that scrap you are weighed down with -- the game has included the concept that others may be doing the same thing.

yeah, it is just that I am used of RPGs where things do not get stolen ... It's not like they tell you to build a safe at the beginning.

I have 3 currently but I'd still be pretty pissed if any armor, esp an upgraded one went missing.

^This. I used to leave Fusion cores in my armor's but stopped doing that when I was surprised at seeing Preston running around in my T-45b armor during a Raider attack unexpectedly. Once I finally found where he left it (there was no icon) I took it back home and immediately took the core out of it.

That's where mine was parked with Preston jacked it without permission. He gave not 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

Remember: this is Fallout 4. They made it a little bit more realistic: your settlement (and the other settlements) can get attacked, especially if they have lots of food, and little defence.
Anything you drop on the ground can get stolen/taken.
This includes your power armour, especially when you leave a power core in it (fusion core).

In real life, you wouldn't leave your car outside with the keys in the ignition. In Fallout 4, you should act the same. :) :)

The wasteland is not a friendly place. Even your "friends" will hop in the armor without asking.
