Walk slower?
I remember that New Vegas at my dad's place had a button you could press to trigger walking/running.

For the life of me, I cannot find that button for fallout 4, even though it would make sneaking easier.

Try capslock. It helps you sneak more quietly.

Walking slow and crouching makes sneaking easier. You can also crouch slow.

The toggle button is Caps-Lock by default.

Just like others, hit the caps lock key on your keyboard and it will remove auto run. Then you'll walk everywhere instead of jog.
