Caps are added to the workshop. go to the settlement and look in it's inventory and you should have some bottlecaps. VERY few bottlecaps.. its kinda a waste...

I was getting about 100-200 caps each day from 3 stores. It's a good long-term investment *if* you want to play long-term and use caps for some reason like unique armour.

Except you can make more money than the shops by simply selling a single runs worth of armour/weapons without the 800-3k ourlay on each store. I have 2 settlements with every store type in them with 17 settlers in each and you get ridiculously low amounts of money from them for the cost of the store plus having to put points into perks which could potentially be better put elsewhere.

in the beginning it doesn't seem much, but once you got all shops in all your settlements it generates loads of caps each day.
It's realy a longterm investment.... but a waste of caps if you only build them in one settlement.

I've so far earned in more than I spent on my stores but considering the fact that my settlers have to work in the stores, it's 50/50 as to whether they're worth it or not.

For the lazy people that don't want to do anything, it's not too bad. Ofcourse, there's going to be better options to make caps.

That said I do personally think they could do with a little bit of a buff to caps generated but in a few good hours of playing I've easily made back the investment in to the shop anyway. It's just a nice bit on the side.

The caps are only added in the inventory for THAT settlement. It's very few caps fo how much they cost to build, but it's not so bad if you think about it, because if you give them like a whole month, then they'll probably almost pay for themselves.

The shops are only there for a good selling point. Dont build them for generating passive caps.

You guys have put up Caravan routes right?

Unless you plan to play very long-term, and it's worth it to build them in MULTIPLE settlements.
No no no OP you're doing it all wrong. (Just kidding, there is no wrong way, but this is my method.)

What I'm doing is generating a TON of purified water. 400-500-ish every time I go to Sanctuary after a new day (Or sooner, haven't tried testing the min amount of hours)

Step 1) Make a water industry in your settlement with T3 Water and T3 Generators.
Step 2) Come back in a bit and look at your inventory get a bit full with water.
Step 3) Sell 'errythang at your shops in your settlement

Why is that? is there any difference between making 5 shops in one place, or 5 shops in each?

great plan but a good starting point is carrots and tatos require no power and use less space at the same time they dont really need to be tended to if you harvest them yourself

It's not any different. If it's not a waste of caps if built at 5 settlements, it's not a waste of caps if built at one. The only thing it might be a waste of if not using it everywhere is the perk point, since that's the only fixed cost regardless of number of stores.

I'll also support this. I don't know which sells for more though. Or what would weigh less compared to costing more. I'm not the one to test this. I just like having a giant industrial outpost for water. :c:
