Human Error

Sooooo, I ended up murking everyone in the secret compound, do I need to not do that and reload from an old save point to complete the quest or is there a way to save the chick w/o doing that?

Edit: I can't go back to an old save point cuz well, I can't.

If you have enough Char you can persuade them to talk with Dr. instead of gunfight. Once you meet the Dr, you have to choose side anyway, kill Dr. or fight with Honest Dan. Personally, I choose to side with Dr. and in the end Amelia is a synth, you gonna found a synth component when loot her. After that, when I came back to Covenant, they will join Minutesmen and Covenant become a settlement. If you want to help "Amelia", you have to kill all of them include people at Covenant too.

Supposedly having convinced Jacob before leaving Covenant will let you in without having to kill everyone.

However I think I bugged mine, I found all the evidence I needed, I told Dan about the compound and he was heading over to meet me there, then I convinced Jacob before leaving and headed out. Then when I enter the compound who do I meet? The guards that are supposed to be there thanks to Jacob? Nope and angry Dan with 25% health yelling and shooting at me. So Piper knocks him over the head with her hammer and I proceed to go on a killingspree. When I get to the end of the place I meet Chambers and all she has to say to me is "And here you are." which turns my character in a random direction and nothing more. I can talk the girl and let her out but I didn't bother at this point and just left it at that.

All in all F that mission I'm going to do some more exploring.

What the hell are you talking about? I completed the game and I don't know any of these characters you're mentioning.

Damn Bethesda, I'm going to have to fire up the game again! I want my social life back... :(

I ended up finding the compound before it even showed up in the quest, and just ended up killing everyone there cuz they were shooting at me. I don't know if there's another way for me to complete the quest tho since I killed everyone and there doesn't seem to be much else for me to do but to leave it as a open quest.

I have the same problem, Dan becomes hostile and the Doctor just says "And here you are" while turning my character around.

Then you don't get the settlement on your side. The doctor will not speak to you without Honest Dan and you are forced to let Amelia go.

Somehow i exited my power armor and Honest Dan wasn't hostile towards me anymore.

If you kill everyone go back to Covenent and kill everyone their too. Once you do you can access the workbench and the settlement becomes yours.

lol I CANT EVEN START THE QUEST, when i found covenant the door was open and honest dan wasnt even there, so i cant start the quest. Looks like it's time to let strong smash everyone to bits...

If you're wearing power armour, take it off before approaching Covenant, it seems to cause that issue.

(Make sure to take the fusion core, for the same reason you don't leave your car with the keys in it.)

Sure, but from what I've heard later on you find out that she was actually a fugitive, being helped to escape by old man Stockton, who works for the Railroad, so there's that, too.

Plus, you know, all the false positives tortured and murdered for the chance to find a synth... (who is also tortured and murdered, if you care about that kind of thing)...

No good outcomes, for this quest, it's all shades of gray.

The "lemonade" is nice, though, I wonder what he puts in it. Certainly not lemons, I haven't seen a single one in all the wasteland...

I wonder if Amelia is an actual infiltrated Synth, or a case similar to Danse or Sturges, where a Synth started a whole new life after a memory wipe, and even them don't know they are Synths, I don't remember the quest giving enough details to make a point to either way.

As I said above old man Stockton seems to work for the Reailroad, so yes, there's more to Amelia than it seems at first glance - or at second glance, for that matter -, and it might even be possible that, as you said, she doesn't know she's a synth, and genuinenly believes she's Stockton's daughter...
