Broken companion? How you might be able to fix it.

EDIT:

When a companion is broken, as in he/she won't talk to you anymore without a reason, try selecting him when the console is open and type
removefromfaction 75d56

That usually makes it possible to talk to them again. Hope it helps.

I've written about this before but I'll try and keep it short:

Piper is broken. When I try to talk to her she repeats some generic lines of dialogue but I'm given no chance to answer.

She is not my companion as I can recruit anyone else as I please.
I tried resetting her. Nothing.
I tried disabling/enabling her. Nothing.
I tried toggling her AI off and back on again. Nothing.
I teleported her to me to various locations. She engaged in dialogue with her sister in Diamond City but that's it.
I teleported myself to her (mostly to set her non-essential and kill her because she p*sses me off so much)

There's seriously nothing that works.
I know of some people experiencing similar issues (mainly with Nick).

My bug was triggered after I told Nick me and Piper would come to Goodneighbour together.
Well she apparently didn't think this was a good idea and is now stuck being useless at Red Rocket Gas Station.

Interestingly when I open the workshop menu I can select any other settler, including other companions stationed there and assign them to certain work or just move them somewhere else pressing R.
Not so for good old Piper. There's no option shown, I can not interact with her at ALL.

So a word of warning. Should this happen RELOAD IMMIDIATELY. There's no way to revert it after it happens. I have a save that's 19 hours back and Piper works in that save, but boy I'm not going to repeat that sh*t. :)

Anyone else have a good idea on how to fix them? Am I missing something? Have you experienced something similar?

Seeing that others have similar issues with Nick or even the same with Piper I'm guessing that it's the quest that breaks them. We can only hope for a mod or update to fix it then I guess.

Happened to me with Preston at the Castle. I was told to use "resurrect" but that didn't help. He just kind of stands around being silent and creepy.

I know this is necro but holy crap THANK YOU. Nick Valentine was bugged to high hell and i've been trying for hours to fix it and finally this post worked.
