See Abbot at the wall

So I see him, during day time, at the wall, in diamond city. I can see the quest marker on his head and he sure as heck was at the wall.

But everytime I try talking to him, he went all "oh no need to worry about me" "I've got work to do". Well guess what, I want the misc quest competed so you better start talking damnit.

I am having the EXACT same problem. Very frustrating. I tried talking to him at every time of day, even in his house, to no avail. Well if he doesn't want any help he can just go fudge himself.

I have the same problem but I did not had this problem the first play through. Did you already discovered the Hardware store and possbily killed all raiders there? If not then that might trigger abbot to give the quest..

Interesting, that might have been the issue as I had killed everyone in Hardware Town by the time I got the misc quest from some random dude in Diamond City Marketplace.

I restarted the game after proceeding the main quest line a "wrong" direction. This time I went straight to the wall and initiate the quest right there. I was lucky for me that I arrived during the day too. Otherwise he would have been asleep.

I have not visited the hardware store on this playthrough but i still cant initiate the quest. Is there a fix? As i dont want to redo 14 hours of progress.

hey doe anybody know how to trigger the quest when you are with abbot at the wall and he only says i dont need help

Maybe it has level flag? I most certainly killed all the raiders first on my second playthrough and got to him with can of pre-maid green paint. Still got the quest.

I cleared the hardware store before even getting to Diamond City. I do not remember when I got the initial trigger to talk to him, but when I did get around to talking to him later in the game, it was late at night and he gave me the quest no problem. The raiders respawed in the store.

I'm level 45, have not discovered the hardware store, and he keeps saying he's busy or doesn't need my help. Wow Bethesda. Just another bug.

Assuming other posts are correct, it wouldn't be a bug, really...just need to wait enough game days for raiders to respawn. Heh,ehh,heh...raiders and molerats seem to share a common repop timer, going back to FO3, even...try again after a few days of gametime.

Why are you saying it isn't a bug and I should wait to let the raiders respawn in the hardware store, after I said that I haven't even touched that place at all.

It's been like that for me forever as well, haven't been to Hardware Town yet, no missions linked to Hardware Town, but still Abbot says he's busy...

did you dump the paint you mixed somewhere else before talking to him? dont know

I had this issue in version 1.7.15. I had not been to hardware town and I didn't have any quests related to the location. Even the console commands to reset quest did nothing. What fixed the bug for me was doing the opposite of what people are suggesting ... Go to Hardware Town, clear the place and mix some green paint. Bring the paint to Abbot. Then he started talking to me and I could just show him the paint and move forward in the quest.

I had cleared out hardware town a long time ago and when i finaly got to the point of talking to abbot he was to busy. So i went back to hardware town to clear it a secound time and i found one of the guys i had killed there a long time ago still there but dead. But even after clearing the place again he was to busy. So i went back Again but this time i did a resurrect and recycleactor on that named raider that was still there. This time Abbot finaly had time for me. So try going back there and if there is a named raider there do the ressurect thingy and kill him again. Hope it may help someone else that is in the same boat as i was.
