How to make "owned" items "unowned"?
So here is my situation and the problem I am running into. I will try to avoid spoilers.

I got the the town "Covanent" and with the choices I made, extreme circumstances arose and I had to kill everybody!

Now I have a town (a bad ass one if I do say so myself) that I can build things and it does register as a settlement. But there a lot of items like beds and stuff that I cant scrap or have any of my settlers or companions use because it says its "owned". Is there a console command, or some other way that lets you change "owned" items to "unowned" so I can scrap or have them be usable?

How do you mean? Like highlight the item and type that in the command box?

Bring up the console, then click on the object, and then type setownership

Make sure you're actually clicking the object you want and not the background.

Rock on man! Thank you! It works! Now I can use the place the way I want to now!

I had one more question, is there a way to make a door not need the key anymore?

Bring up the console and click the door, type unlock

That works to open doors that are locked, but it doesnt permanently keep it unlocked.

Having a similar issue in Warwick Homestead. I'm wanting to replace their beds with bunk beds. EDIT: I actually tried setownership and unlock. Just decided to use disable for the moment.

Covenant is one of the worst settlements to try and build.

Very tiny space to work with.

The gate will constantly close on you in workshop.

The ground it not clippable in most places so it is hard to sink anything.

The prebuilt bunk beds and big beds do not work and can not be scrapped.

Any Brahmin in the settlement become a complete pain in the ass.

You do not gain control of the turret emplacements and the dead turrets never go away.

I think you can scrap the locked doors.
just use the disable command on corpses and debris of robots and turrets

Something like this just happpened to me right now and i have the same problem ._.. So i was loading a save at the graveyard because i failed the medium speach check at Covedent and when I got there there wasn't any doors or anyone. So I made a save where the doors would be just in case. Eventually, the NPCs spawned and the doors appered and i was trapped inside Covenent... along with it's inhabitance being hostile towards me. So I killed everyone in Covent and then the doors because unlocked magically (the enternce/exit doors) when i claimed the settlement.

Yea...

I deleted that self closing gate.
Sure, it's an open invitation for raiders, but hey .. they'll be stepping into a meat grinder.
