Xbox 360 controller problem
Hi, I have this problem when using the Xbox 360 controller where when I press down to select something in the pip-boy or on the menu it will go down 2 spots instead of 1. And I am unable to sprint at all with the controller. It works perfectly fine with the keyboard. This seemed to happen after inputing some console commands. Any way to fix this?

Close the game and reopen it, I've had no problems with my controller so far.

I've tried that. Also this didn't happen until I used the console command "showlooksmenu player 1"

Official controller with official USB receiver? Someone was using a chinese knock off and they were having no d-pad support.

Don't know what to tell you then. I'm using a wireless 360 pad and haven't had any issues.

IT must have been that console command, but I don't see how. Unplug your control go to main menu shut off controller support, exit the game, plug in your controller (DONT TOUCH ANYTHING ON IT WHEN YOU PLUG IT IN) load up the game, turn on controller support.

Touching the controller when you turn it in can mess with the default axis

I just had to restart my PC, that fixed it :/ Thanks for the help anyway!

I'm having the same issue. I click down once but the cursor selection goes down twice. Around 10-20 min after this starts happening the game crashes.

I shutdown and reopened and the problem went away for awhile but now it is happening more. (as in ever time I play now and with less time before it starts happening)

If anyones got a perma fix for this please post. I'm really enjoying the game but it's unplayable like this. (oh and let me add that "just play from the keyboard" as a perma fix is not what I'm talking about...)

Try unplugging your controller, restart your pc, then plug it in again. My problem was that is was reading my controller as being player 2 for some reason.

lol mines was doing the same. I saw remember seeing the 2nd player light come on and think "was it alwasy like that"

And I agree, pulling the cable out of usb port and plugging in again clears that problem! I think it also solved(addressed) some of the crashes I was having.

Woot!

Sorry to necro the thread, but I'm having the same problem with a generic controller (PowerA from Walmart.) Tried removing it from my devices list, unplugging and plugging back in, and nothing works. Any suggestions?

Could try launching steam in Big screen mode, checking the controller settings and manually construct a key layout. Maybe there is a community patch for that controller too, never hurts to check that first

I think I found a fix, but it's not the one I was hoping for. This bug/glitch only occurs when I launch the game through F4SE..through Steam, the game runs as it should.

I too am having an issue with F4SE causing double key presses for my 360 controller, the issue is that i need the script extender for some critical mods...has anyone found a more lasting fix for this issue?
