Supply lines do NOT work...
I have put 2 Sanctuary settlers to make supply lines with other 2 other places. They have become provisioners instead of settlers, I've waited more than 48 hours ingame and the other settlements have trade shops with a settler assigned.

Yet still no sharing between the workstations... it's driving me nuts.

It should be instant, and if you check the map on your pip-boy you can 'show connections'
to see which settlements are in fact linked.
If they show they are linked on the map, then you should have access to all the workshop mats.

you wont get direct access to the inventory of the other settlements. When you establish a route you now can use the materials of both workshops to build stuff, but you wont be able to take stuff from an other settlement...

this settlement design is so bad designed :(

You trade resources and materials. Not items. This is explained in the perk, and in the HELP menus.

They are linked, and no settlement has the stuff that Sanctuary has. It's real annoying. Maybe it's because I thought you had to link all settlements but actually A-> B -> C is good enough. I have A->B->C and B->C and A -> C for supply lines. Perhaps that's what screwed me over. Otherwise its bugged.

Maybe, try breaking the link between A > C and see what happens, so it's just one input into each town.
I have 11 towns linked and can access all the materials I own between them.

Even though it doesn't show up in the workshops, they are shared once you put a supply line between them. Try building something in the settlement you put a supply line too, it will work.

Wait so if you have say, 4 settlements with alot of people and shops that generate income. You have to visit all 4 of those settlements to collect the caps? It's just materials that are shared... wow.

Yes. This is explained in the perk, in the supply lines, and in the help menu. Sharing of resources and materials. Items, caps, and weapons are neither resources nor materials.

Oh maybe I misread something; the other people are right, the resources are shared in the sense you can build whatever in a linked town and it will pool the resources of linked towns to be able to continue building, but you can't extract the extra mats from anywhere.

It's disappointing, I know. And it's because of poor wording on the games part. But it didn't actually lie to anybody. lol

I wish I could share between my bases, but I've gotten used to having a house for me, and a house for public consumption.

Have I been doing this wrong? I make Sanctuary my main base of sorts and have thousands of building materials. I sent like 5 supply guys (all originating from Sanctuary) to my other settlements... yet when I travel to my other settlements, it seems that I'm not getting any resources. Am I just doing this completely wrong?

It's really bad then.. and annoying. No caps income sharing from all the shops in all the settlements and no weapon sharing either. I mean if you have 10+ settlements fully decked with shops who is gonna visit all 10+ to collect the caps lol.

Same for the junk, you also have to deposit it in your main base else you forget where you put it since it's not shared.

Just build. The resources are only available for building.

Me. I will.

I'm sure eventually someone will make a mod where you can send a settler to collect income from all settlements and dump them into a box of your choosing.
