I haven't tried the modular system yet because finding clothes that work with it is a bit of a pain. Instead I just rocked the same drifter coat for half my playtime, upgrading only twice with two other 'full sets'

You rarely find better armor.

I usually buy it and I usually pick armor with stats increases on it.

basically, upgrade your cault suit to max and keep strapping on "legendary gear" over it and you'll have tons of armor. make sure to alwayts move it to studded/polymer/polished for best results

Na I love the amor pieces that you can get. I took me awhile start to find some good ones but once you start facing more legendary characters they usually drop some good amor pieces. The clothing I'm using under the amor set has been brother hood of steel clothing. I makes me look like a retro scifi character

This greatly annoys me.

I wish I could put upgrades on the Drifter suit... or at the very least, I wish Bethesda knew how to make cool armor.

dont worry. thats what modders are for. bethesda just starts the game for them so they can finish it.

I have a love hate relationship with it. Being able to customize and mod the armor as well as having a main suit + appendages is cool but over time im just annoyed with it. The enemies I kill even after 33 hours of play drop essentially the same armor they did since the first hour of play and aside from SUPER expensive legendary gear sold at stores I havent run into anything exciting. occasionally ill pick up some armor off a body because its got a + by it (still not sure exactly sure that means, guess its a good thing... ;) and then it just ends up being crap. either it sits in my inventory or I give it to my companion and I just end up with a mishmash of annoying garbled inventory bits in a game thats already filled to the gills with inventory madness.

Anyone actually found a head piece that wasnt a some sort of hat but like a cool looking helmet?

You mean like the Combat Helmet?

My guy looks like an idiot but I can't help but min-max with Legendary Armor pieces, so he is wearing mix-matched armor.

In that respect, I do not like the Armor system.

What I don't get is that theydeveloped a system by which you can paint armors to different colors, yet many armors have this option disabled. They should let you paint ANY armor so you can at least match colors.

I tried to find better armor, but eventually just settled on a Vault Suit and Brotherhood Combat Armor.

45 hours in, still using the Vault Armor suit (but upgraded it). I also wish there was a bit more variety, or that you could place armor over other outfits.
So far I've not found any other suit or jacket that allows me to put armor over it. Is that normal?

Best one I've found was for sale at Covenant. It's a legendary combat helmet. Goes for about 600 caps. But I don't know if legendary equipment is totally random or if merchants sell the same gear for everyone.

They expect you to wear power armor a lot, that's why most of the regular armor isn't that great. You should get some legendary armor pieces, like the Champion armor.

I wish there were cooler base modable armors. Or I could add components to the cooler clothing like the drifter outfit.
