Nick Valentine won't move?
After First leading nick through the place when you first find him, after the breif dialouge with skiny pete (?) Nick would just stand there. Killing him, killing myself, reseting the game, console commanding to him, and just plain walking into him 1,000 times did not fix it. So i regrettably went back to my last save, (48 minutes behind) rushed through everything and now he doesn't even leave the first room? Just says the dialouge about talking once we leave and standing still. please help?

Try opening the console, selecting him
disable
enable
close console.

When he renteres he goes back to doing a whole lot of nothing, thank you for the sugjestion though.
Sounds like the same bug I've encountered with Piper then. Bad news is there's nothing to fix it so far. Nothing besides loading a save before what triggered this. Now good luck finding out what triggered this.

Interestingly, when I tried assigning Piper (who is also stuck doing nothing in my game) to a Guard Post in my settlement, there was no option for her to be moved or assigned. I can even move a generic NPC, so it's not even companion related. Piper stopped being an NPC in my game apparently. She's now inanimate to a point where she only asks me about the weather and that's it.

I did reload a save and the glitch only occured sooner. Thank you for your time, Ill post if i get a solution..

That's really weird. I think I know what caused Piper to get stuck. It was when I told Nick me and Piper would head out to Goodneighbor together that she didn't travel with me any longer.
I guess the save you loaded was still after what triggers the bug. :/

I'm having the same non moving issue with Piper but not because of the same reason. I didn't tell her to leave me, she just decided "Eh, from now on I'm a living statue lol"...she hasn't moved since then tho I can still talk to her, make her 'follow' me or dismiss her. I've been looking at the forums for a solution for a couple of days now but sadly, nothing. We're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. We have to wait for a patch or a modder to fix this.

If the NPC have a target spot to reach, like in my game, Deacon stopped his step in from the quest room and refuse to get close to the terminal that only he can use, tried many ways and it just won't work, in the end I use player.placeatme command to call him to the front of the terminal, and it finally got fixed
But the problm of Piper, dunno, maybe try to dismiss her and teleport her to her house(her standby point)?
The problem is she's not my companion. I can't dismiss or recruit her. There is no dialogue window at all.

Like everyone already explained above: console commands aren't working. Disable/enable, placeatme, nothing. Commands do what they're supposed to be doing but they are not resetting anything. placeatme command teleports Piper to you, disabling makes her disappear and enabling makes her reappear but she's still doing the exact same thing as before which is nothing at all. Sometimes she's in a bed 'sleeping' and if I talk to her, she's talking about like if she would be standing but her mouth isnt moving and she is not trying to stand up from the bed to talk to me. There's somehing else that ♥♥♥♥♥ companions up. Something commands wont fix

Yeah, I even tried setplayerteammate 1, the dialogue menu reappeared, I checked with getplayerteammate, I have 3 with her apparently. Wtf?
The dialogue window did nothing though. When talking to her she still repeated generic lines as if she wasn't my follower, making her follow me did nothing, it didn't even change to "Stay", it always said "Follow", she made an acknowleding "Uh-hu!" or said "That's a plan!" and remained standing there. I could trade with her, however, but I could not dismiss her via dialogue either.

It's just completely f*cked up. Big.

Found the fix!

You have to be standing right ourside of Nick's office front door to trigger him to start walking.

I have this problem when I'm supposed to follow Proctor Ingram on the Liberty Prime quest. Anyone know a fix for this?

OMG I FOUND THE SOLUTION. So basically the animation is them standing but really they are on the floor dying. No way to restore them but if you just ~ and resurrect TA DA!!! Spread the word. Also you might have to resurrect 2 or 3 times

WOW! This works, thank you!! The enable/disable didn't work for me, but this did! My companion had been stuck for dozens of missions, just spawning whenever you entered a new area, but never moving.

Be sure to trade with them and get your stuff first, as this spawns the character with their default inventory (but your relationship status remains the same). Like Pew Pew said, just go into the console with ~, click the companion to get the ID, type 'resurrect', and you're back in business
