Very annoying, keep dying and need help
Hi all

So I've just finished Concord, went up to the other camp as a Minuteman and some woman told me to take out a raider camp. Tried THREE times to even get more than 200 metres away but keep dying to:

"Mr Gutsy", "Legendary Bloatfly" and when I finally evaded the Gutsy and KILLED the bloatfly, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Legendary Redstag one hitted me.

Getting really annoyed here I want to play the game I paid for not die constantly!! I'm only on Normal difficulty as well

sound like you have bad weapons and no weapon amplifying perks

they are more or less essential ingame

my tip is to use riflemanpark and the singleshot rifles, cause the single shot does more damage per shot and the perk offer armor ignore to even further the damage output

I've literally only got Pipe weapons, a 10mm pistol and a double barrel shotgun, I've only just left Sanctuary properly and facing these already

Don't mind dying or facing a boss but when you evade or kill one and another just pops right up it's incredibly frustrating

That quest is actually hard for one of the first quests. I die a lot too but I also save a lot which helps with progression. Scoped Rifle, Gernades of any sort and melee all help. You have to approach each battle differently. Use your companion to distract. Once you get through that quest things lighten up a bit.

Expect to die but also expect to save often (F5).

turn down the difficulty

The ledgendary mobs disapear if you die to them and apear randomly. Sometimes you will end up taking a patch that just has bad luck. Sneak attacks are a good way to start a battle. Perception will help you spot them before they spot you.

since this game is so generous (boring) that they hand you a suit of PA out the gate id suggest using it for these moments.

the pipeweapons should get you through to level 10 where you will be using the 10mm and hunting rifles untill your level 15 ish.

also the laser musket which is a pain in the ass to use is also a option to up the damage in the early game.

I didn't bother with that quest when they initially gave it to me. Level up a bit more, work on fixing and customizing your power armor from the Minuteman quest, and then go back with your armor.

Really confused now I decided to ditch the quest and have a look at some quarry quest for pipes. Went to the quarry, jumped into the water and suddenly I'm metres below the surface and have to manually walk up. ♥♥♥♥ that.

So I thought I'd just go to Diamond City, looked at the map it's ages away and there's no way I'd make it when I can't even make a quarter of the journey to a raider camp.

Wtf can I do?

Ah, the infamous graphics error Quarry.

EDIT: I got my ass kicked on that one because it keps spawning a ledgendary mirelurk my first 4 deaths. And mirelurks are already tough enough to basically laugh at pipe weapons (thank you, mister shotgun).

Yeah, Im not being sassy when I say turn down the difficulty if it's getting too frustrating to be fun, then turn it back up later when you want. Enemy placement is all over the place even near the start of the game.

Just north of Tenpines (Tenpines visit itself being basically very start of the game quest material), is a radio tower icon. At that place, is a power armor wearing radier with a Fatman (nuke launcher) hanging out on an elevated platform you can't sneak up on without alerting them or his pals that early in. Oh and some machinegun turrets too I guess.

Go a bit farther and you will see "Gunner" enemies. They are humans, like Raiders. Except while a raider in metal armor will die reaily to pipe weapons, a shirtless man with the word "gunner" over his head will tank an upgraded shotgun unloading both barrels to his face and ask for more.

I expect a direct road following route to diamond city without veering off will have more forgiving enemeis than going all of 200 feet to the north of Tenpines throwing nuke wielding power armor raiders at you.

Off the beaten path has more loot (I've found 2 more generic power armors so far just by accident), but it also seems to have a wider varience of enemy quality you can't blame on level scaling.

Unless level 5 is supposed to be enough to spawn "power armor and a fatman".

The benefit of managing to kill bullet sponge "legendary" enemies is that they drop unique gear. usually it's filler leather armor parts or something, but sometimes you get something cool like "pipe rifle that causes explosive damage on hit just because", or a laser musket with +50% limb damage.

When it comes to named mobs or mutate events I use Dogmeat to lock them down. He's effective and keeping them still and distracting them, gives you ample freedom to get close and use the double barrel. Between VATS bonuses and executing a critical I've yet to see a special that doesn't lose 50%-75% of it's health from one shotgun blast. I only wish you could execute the critical with both barrels at once. OFF WITH 'YER HEAD!

Also I don't get the SPECIALs either I've just spread the points out across each option :S

You can get to Diamond City in a reasonable amount of time. Just take Dogmeat with you and save often along the way. It's a good place to discover because you can use it as a hub for trading, resting, healing up, and getting more quests and such.

Yeah... Mr.Gutsy... Good Memories... Or Bad :P!

Use your AID inventory to the max. Don't be scared to get addicted to some stuff when fighting really hard mobs. Because those bonuses really help A LOT. Especially the slow time one. And then when you're done you can be cured of all addictions with items and/or doctors.

specials affect varius stats they should be adapted to your playstyle
str affect carry weight and melee damage for instance

forexample im a lone ranger so i have str at 6 Perception 4 agility 8
this makes me capapble of carrying decent loads while being very stealthy allowing me to pick them off at range or get in close for a coup de grace shotgun blast in vats.

in all honesty i think you should look at scrapping that character and make a newone wich is more specialized as this game does not allow you to be a jack of all trades.
