Settlement Junk Fence Gaps
When trying to build with the Junk fences in the settlement you can't put them too close to anything else or even eachother, creating ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gaps between each piece of fence and it's driving me mad. Could the not have included nocolide to deal with all this? Because overlapping models are unrealistic? Oh boo ♥♥♥♥ing hoo, half-metre gaps in my ddefensive walls are unrealistic!

For anyone else having this problem I've found this reddit post, haven't tried it out on fences yet but it might work: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3seyo0/building_tool_the_power_of_rugs/

I agree, I wouldn't mind more collision of walls so we can make the ugly gaps between and below them can be closed off. Even if it is just for the purpose of being visually pleasing. I hate seeing fences floating a few feet off the ground in certain spots.

Okay, this reddit post is legit, I just tried it and it works with fences and guard towers. It will be tedious and will probably take years to do but I will make this fence look aesthetically pleasing!

Omg, this very thing has been driving me insane! Especially when building in areas that aren't very flat! Impossible to get a decent looking fence. :(

neat. i'm almost willing to try building a settlement again.

Yeah, it's a pain. I use fence posts in the gaps to make it too small for a person to squeeze through. It works well enough.

yup thats a pain in the ass to the max and I cant wait for modders to make a (free) mod to give us proper construction gui controls.

As for the reddit, my question would be, can you build a fense over a rug? If so, it should work great.

Yeah, modders will fix this in no time. Seems like a fairly easy one.

The rug/mat thing works, but it's a bit tricky, you can build a fance on top of it and then move the rug with the fance as shown in the reddit post. The way I do it is place the rug at an angled floor such as a hill, and then move the fence along the hill untill the collision box stops going down and moves horizontally, meaning it's on top of the rug instead of the hill. I've build a nice looking fence with no gaps around my entire settlement, and used it for stuff like nuka cola machines to get them right up the wall! Hope this helps, gl and hf :*

It also makes building on a base in Sanctuary really bothersome. It really bothers me there's always a part of the base still visible.

Worst case scenario you can use the rug tricks with smaller items, such as containers, and cover up small places where something is lifted off the ground or something else is showing that you want to cover.
