Fallout 4
FALLOUT 4 CRASHES FOR INTEL(R) HD Graphics 5500
My computer:
Windows 8.1
Intel® core™ i5-5200u CPU @ 2.20GHz
8 GB RAM, 64 bit
GPU Intel® HD Graphics 5500

My problem is when i turn on the game, the screen loads (turns black) for a few seconds then it turns off and im back on the desktop. i tried lowering the resolution, making the window small, updating through steam, i also tried updating the graphics card through the computer but it says it doesnt need it. i also tried updating the GPU through intel software, it didnt recognized my driver nor did it do an update. ive heard of people talking about down grading their GPU and i dont feel comfortable with that. I also set my settings for my graphics card really high with high battery consumption and backwards, nothing has worked. if i reinstall the game i can play till i get to the point where im on the elevator than it turns off and im back at the desktop. than i cant play again and im back to the loading screen thats black and cuts off. i was thinking that since the requirements for fallout 4 driver has to be AMD or NVIDIA but two of my friends who have intel hd graphics 4600 can run the game perfectly why cant i...

Update: for people who have Intel HD Graphics 5500 like myself are all having this issue. after hours and hours of research i have found out the reason the crashing is happening is because of the game is faulty and isnt reading my GPU properly. we must wait for a patch to fix the bug unfortunately.... whenever that may be. if anyone has suggestions on how to make it work, other than what i have tried already.... i would like to hear about it.

This is a pretty common issue some get it fixed most don't

First make sure you have your drivers updated.

Second Verify Game Cache files and restart

Try this

Also try and see if it plays in windowed mode with lower res.
Intel graphics cards aren't really built for video gaming. Some games they simply won't run, most any game that's 3D they pretty much limp along in.

Read again what GPU he has...

OP you don't have a proper gpu. The minimum requirement is an 550 ti (if I remember right). Your integrated gpu has roughly half performance of an 550 ti.
I also suggest you read more before blaming the game for not running on a card 50% below the minimum spec. It's like getting mad over the game not running on a tablet.

Eh I've seen others run the game on that card. The issue he is having is a problem thats happened to a lot of otheres even with top end cards.

Not saying the game will run great but it should at least start. Decent frames on his card is a whole other issue.

great suggestion, just tried it and it didnt work. but what i thought was weird was when i tried repairing the second file it said that i had to restart my computer.... weird since the video didnt have to.

as i said before, i have two friends who have a downgraded laptop compared to what i have running with intel hd 4600 and they are doing just fine. of course one had to work really hard to make it work but its possible.. i know intel sucks but i cant complain on a free laptop.

Intel Hd 5500 work fine with FarCry3, 4 , GTA 5 and other 3d game , on low/middle setting.
Fallout 3 New Vegas also work fine.

this misconception that the modern game requires only gtx "gaming" level cards. Gtx level cards needs for ultra quality and 100 fps , modern integrated videocards such as 5500 allows for running 3d game on low and middle settings with good perfomace.

Im try too run Fallout4 on my Intel HD 5500 core i7 notebook. After manipulations with driver updates and directx reinstalling, setting windows 7 compability mode - it's runing and it's graphic perfomance fine.

But it's crashes on when loading and switching levels, it's not problem of videocard perfomance or compability. Im try to take save file and load level on other computer, after loading finished i have copied save back on my hd 5500 computer and it's loads and perfomance fine.

I think it's some bugs or not adapted to intergated videocard scenarios, it's can playing good and need be fixed.

Game is not faulty if it won't run on hardware well below what it claims to support. If you and others can get it to work, great; but half the reasons such specs are put out is because the games are not tested and/or unstable on such weak hardware.

It is like saying my sedan is faulty because it sucks at "off roading".
So do you think you can run it? Because I have the same, except my cpu runs 2.8 ghz. Please tell me

Fallout 4 requires an NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent.

550 or HD5770 realititically.

I dont know why, and neither do MANY pros in IT, that they would list the HD7870 as minimum.

As a 7870 Owner I can say its more than overkill for a minimum card. I can play all ultra minus Shadows and S/Distance (both high) and Godrays (medium) at 1080P with average FPS of 55-60, bumps up to 80 and ocasional drops down to 40-45.

Far from minimum.

Realitically, the 7870 is twice the card of the 550ti, a more reasonable minimum card for AMD is hte HD5770, which I also own one of. It can push the game at 1440x900 on low preset with an average of 40fps, jumps to 50-55 and drops to 30-35.

All of the listed cards above are still more power than the Intel HD5000 line.
lmao, onboard intel GPU's do not count man, I'm sorry. They are not for gaming and don't possess the proper power to run any semi-decent game, unless it's old.
