That's not going to work. I don't know about the other guy, but in my case, Fallout 4 isn't using my graphics card and is running at 1 fps on the low settings. I've tried a few things but have yet to find a solution.
If you're curious, I have an Nvidia Quadro FX 2800M with 1GB dedicated graphics memory. It can run Skyrim with 100+ mods, 2k textures, and an enb at around 25 fps, so there's no reason that it shouldn't work on vanilla Fallout 4.
Actually I have an i7 and I play Skyrim at 1920x1200 on medium settings. But I'm upgrading to a Quadro K4000M so I'll be able to play soon. And the 2800 actually only goes to DX9, but I'm using a DX emulator to trick the game into thinking I have newer stuff. And if you're curious about the laptop itself, it's an HP Elitebook 8740w. And as for your last statement, I guess it was a litttle silly of me to think that even a beefed up Skyrim could compare to a next gen game like Fallout 4.
A workstation card and a DX emulator. There's your problem, workstation cards do not have driver support for games, they are also not made to run games. Besides, Skyrim's recommended GPU is far less powerful than Fallout 4's minimum. There's no reason to expect a 2800m nor a 4000m to even open the game.
This thread is old. And I'll have you know that I've enjoyed multiple playthroughs already at around 40 fps on my 4000m. Without a DX emulator. Also around 80 mods so far.
I don't care what you have or how well you can play Skyrim, I'm trying to get something fixed.
Uninstall current drivers then hit up safe mode, use your preferred cleaning program to rid the system of older drivers and install paths. Remember- Google is your friend here.
Reboot and reinstall the latest drivers.
Before starting a new game, verify the game cache just to be sure, then launch using the default launcher (try to begin with no mods activated, and only activate once your hardware is recognised).
As with all things 'new', it is not always better. Try back stepping your drivers (and always do clean installations)...
