Solutions for Item Clipping in Settlements
SOLUTIONS:

Youtube Rug Trick

Nexus Mod:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2683/?

No Clip Command:
Press ~ to open console and type TLC. This will turn off collision, which developers could corrupt save files.

Custom Coordinates (Provided by Formula350):
So, as mentioned:
Open console
Click on the object you want to move* (this will work for virtually anything in FO4 world)
modpos <x, y, z> <nnn.nn>
X = East with positive numbers. West with negative numbers.
Y = North with positive numbers. South with negative numbers.
Z = Up in the air with positive numbers. Down in the air with negative numbers.
nnn.nn = any decimal value, positive or negative. 0.01, 20, 300, 294.07 (I do not know how many decimal points, but the smaller the value to more finely the movement, which 0.1 is only barely noticeable)
Examples:
modpos z 0.2 (This moves the object on the Z Axis up in the air a rather tiny amount)
modpos z -20 (This moves the object on the Y Axis to the south about a walking-step's distance)

However, there's also one to change rotation of the object around its fixed point in space...
Open console
Click on the object you want to move*
modangle <x, y, z> <nnn.nn>
X or Y = The object's pitch (angle). For instance like in the real world if you stood a log up straight, the X or Y value would be 0.0, If you leaned it up against a wall, it would be say 24 (degrees).
Z = The object's rotation (spinning). For instance if you are sitting in your office chair and spin around, you are spinning around on the Z Axis.
Examples would be best to provide in screenshots, but I apologize as my cell speeds are horrible right now and can't upload :(

--------

That * after "want to move" is that you need to be careful that you are in fact selecting what you've clicked. For example yesterday I was in the Croup Manor and patching up the holes in the floor, but when I clicked on the wood flooring square I placed and tried to move it, nothing happened. What I actually had selected was the non-physical "glow" that was being emitted by the lamp I was next to. I had to turn on Clipping (tcl) then fly into the floor a bit to be far enough away to select the actual flooring. In this situation don't panic, leave the object selected, press the Up Arrow on the keyboard for your previous command, and invert the number value you used. So if you put -50 then put 50, or 22 put -22. That will return it to where it was. Even if you didn't see anything move, I would still do that just in case. :)

Hope this helps with making your settlement as awesome as it should've been able to be w/o console or tcl!

Believe there is non, but you can take a rug, put item on the edge of the rug then move it and voila. You have a item inside a wall.

Ill try that in the future, but at the castle, its difficult with all the rubble

I agree, clipping in building should be allowed anyways. It should be up to us to judge weather an object within another object looks rediculous or not. It would also be amazing to be able to move/rotate the objects freely on the x/y/z axis as well as digging things in the ground a bit would change everything.

I'd like that too, along with mirroring things so that when you make a fence you don't notice the pattern as much.

Yeah a little varience would be nice, mods will fix that though

I know that this is an old thread and you might already know, but I was just googling something else and saw that this had no answer when I have one.

Hit ~ (Top left of keyboard) click on whatever object you wish to move, and type in modpos then x y or z and a number. Eg: modpos x 10

It will then move the object that distance across that plane. 1= about one inch.

If you're worried, using console commands no longer disables achievements so there is no reason not to do this.

You can open the console and TCL

toggle no clipping.
This way you can clip walls trough eachother.

Some body else gave this tip on the forum (after I build a junk wall around sanctuary :P )

+1 can confirm that this works. You still can't clip things through world objects though, but this will at least let you place things like walls and fences inside each other.

At the castle the best thing to do is build the wall structure you want to install, outside the wall in the courtyard. They in the upper corner press and hold on instead of just selecting it, and it will grab all the pieces together.

Just make sure non wall pieces are far enough away not to be selected with the others.

Then place them all in the spot you want, also when you have multiple things selected, it does allow some clipping.

They really messed up on wall detection and placement. It's really not that hard to do...

I noticed this, you can actually get some things to sit or clip in spots they normally wouldn't by attaching them all to something else when you select all that are connected or near enough together (seems to be abel to work with things like the tall poles too). So you may be able to just find the smallest object you can make and put it near something when you select all (on the object as it seems it mostly uses the object you select all from for the clipping or something).

The Castle was easier to do than other places, as long as you place things carefully

Nice. I only wish we had circular or rounded corner concrete slabs or the like that we could build off of (or that we could build in a slightly more rounded fashon). Also that wall lines up quite well, to bad there aren't any walls that match the stone look.

you didnt try building on a ramp peice so that you can do the rug trick with the bridge peices up/down axis hotkeys???? O.o
Fried_Noodles Nov 30, 2015 @ 7:27am
