Would be better if the difficulty would do other things than just lower your damage and rais enemy's damage. Like more enemy's, higher prices and less ammo, more random encounters and stuff like that O.o
Bethesda is notorious for this kind of artificial difficulty.
I just use a mod that sets the damage caps/buffs the same as vanilla while keeping everything else about Survival.
Think there will be difficulty overhault among the first mods. Maybe then survival is worth playing :)
Such a lame ass way to add difficulty.
It's more fun for sure. I don't mind getting killed alot, but I cannot stand shooting a raider in the face with a shotgun at point blank without it dying.
I admit I have no weapon perks, because I am focusing on other things. However I'm grabbing gunsmithing. So I have a modified with a "powerful" reviver pipe rifle dropped from a legendary synth that deals 15 explosive damage on hit (so, 19+15 explode = 31?) and I thought I'd be all set for casual combat.
But nope. I'm fighting people wearing T-shirts wielding security batons that can tank a good amount of them. The few super mutants I fought died about as fast as those "Gunner" people.
Overgrown (non baby) Mosquitos are tanking mutliple modified double barrel shotgun shots too. "There, I gave it a damage upgrade reciver and a long barrel so it's almost 70 damage now... oh I guess that's just kinda okay damage then? At least my vats 95% aim at the torso didn't miss"
stealth headshots with my .308 sinper rifle are just kind of inconveniencing these people as if I shot them normally. But sneaky shots with my modified 10mm pistol will drop generic raiders with a shot to the head.
Im so glad there was that bit of road guard rail to break the AI of that bear I fought by a campsite. Lost track of how many times I shot them with my "as upgraded as rank1 gunsmithing can make it" shotgun before it died, long after I crippled it's head nearly instantly.
Crippling enemy parts doesn't seem to really inconvenicence them all that much. "Hah, I crippled his head! with exploding bullets! oh he's still not missing me with his laser pistol at all. maybe if I cripple his gun arm... no, still shooting me okay then"
Maybe I'm running into invisible level differences? I've mostly been traveling east, still at the north end of the map in my random wandering and procrastinating from heading to Diamond City.
But it's always a bit odd when Guy In filthy T-shirt and scraps of leather A, is vastly less durable than "Guy in filty T-shirt and scraps of leather, but he's named Gunner instead of Raider" B
and yes i am talkin survival diff
