Cant open Vault Doors
I noticed a few other people have had this issue, but noone has found a fix yet.
I get a bug where Vault Doors just dont open for me, i put the pipboy in, press the button and just nothing. happened on the first Vault and when i noclipped out i couldnt use VATS, reinstalled, deleted everything and it didnt fix it, i had to have a friend send me their save file with the vault door open to progress, now i come across vault 114 and low and behold i cannot get in again without breakin the game.

Has anyone found a fix? this has pretty much stopped me going any further, i run an i7 4790k @ 4.6, GTX 970 (sli but i have sli turned off) 16 GB Ram Windows 10

Hello,

I believe I've found the fix for this issue...

I've made an Imgur album explaining the cause and fix: http://imgur.com/a/770N4

Here's a short textual summary of the fix:

1. During normal gameplay (not in VATS, a terminal, a conversation, a menu, etc.) , open the console and run the command 'DumpInputEnableLayers'

2. If you see a Layer there, note it's number. Not the hexadecimal one, the normal integer one -- such as '0'.

3. Run the command 'ResetInputEnableLayer [#]' to remove the restrictions that layer had.

Thats very informative and helpful, but is there an actual fix to the failure of the script so i can open the door and carry on the main quest?

Im about 45 hours into my game and ive jist been doing side missions so id love to get to the main plot

I do not know the root cause of that script failing. A workaround is to noclip into the Vault, do your business, and then noclip out. You can then fasttravel somewhere, and your companon will join you then.

you should've found the solution by now, but for the win:

open up the console (press ~) and click on the vault door.

type "disable" (without quotes)

ta-ta! door gone!

or open the console and type "SetStage MQ102 6" minus the quotes and spaces between SetStage SPACE MQ102 SPACE 6 and then it should all swing into action

And the I had the "the black dome of death" at the elevator so I downloaded the Vault 111 Alternate Elevator mod from nexus.
Sorry for bringing this from the dead - but I'm now doing this in VR

Its funny how old this issue is but I first had it on XBox One & could not get any help to get it fixed so I just gave up & used mods so I could skip the vault but it disabled my achievements which really ....ed me off. I hate how Bethesda doesn't give a rats ... about its players enough to fix the good games instead of making new ones. Now I am getting the same issue on Steam & none of the above fixed it instead I had to use "MarkForDelete" then save & reload that save to remove the door then I had a hell of a time getting threw the hole because there was no walk way. Any way I ended up creating a save threw the command line named "AboutToExitVault" that I will use in the future backed up to avoid this crap. Shame I cant do the same on XBox One for new characters.

Thats crazy how you got that on xbox. If this way before mod days you literally would not be able to get through.

I get it every playthrough. I just have to make a save after it before final character creation.

All best.

If I may add to this - although it might be limited to PC - some of the 'doors' cannot be Clipped through (tcl command); there is 'nothing' behind them as they are simply utilized as portals to the interior(s) of the 'dungeons' [next area].

One way to get around this, is to lookup the name of the area you are trying to get into (eg. "ClothingStore") and then add "int" to the end, which is short for "interior", where the game cells are concerned. For example, if you wanted to get into "ClothingStore" interior cells [to continue with the questline in them], you could type:

coc clothingstoreint

Which would teleport you to the interior area of ClothingStore, hopefully 'right behind the door' - as though you walked through it. COC in the command is short for CenterOnCell, part of the console commands for FO4.
[It also works the other way, as typing "coc graygardenext" (no quotes) will teleport you to the first cell of the Greygarden Settlement]

Just an idea, and I don't think it works on consoles [sorry], but it's just another idea of something to try... GL with it

Steps to fix the problem:

1) Deactivate your mods;
2) Play the game and ensure the doors work as they are supposed to;
3a) If they don't work verify files and/or reinstall the game;
3b) If they work reactivate your mods in groups to single out the mod causing the issue;
4) Search around if there is any patch for that mod that solves the issue;
5a) If there is apply it and see if it fixed things;
5b) If there is not or the patch did not work, decide whether that mod is essential to your game and if you want to keep using it knowing that it will create issues.
