How do you build walls, fences around settlements?
I was just trying to wall out one of my settlements and i tried using junk fence for that cause it seems like the fence for the job,but i cant connect them like you can shack walls etc..and it
looks really ugly...
Is there another way to do this or do you guys just wall off settlements with regular walls?

Junk fences don't "link" up at all. In fact you'll be lucky to get them standing near enough each other, not leaving huge gaps.

CHAIN fences on the other hand, work like walls. You put down a pole (or a chain fence with a pole on either side) and extend out from this. They are strictly 90" angles, so you may have to pick the first piece back up and rotate it around a little.

Keep in mind that pole ends don't connect to pole ends - You need to either use the fence with a pole in only one side, or the one without poles in either side, to match things up neatly.

Do you mean wire fences?cause i dont have any chain fences...
But those are so small and low...i want walls big walls that can actually protect whats inside, this is for protecting brahmins to not get out :D

Wire, chain. Potato potato.

You can't leap over a chain fence, so it'll keep people out. It won't keep them from shooting you though. For that you'll need to get to terms with how terribly bad the junk fences are at matching up with each other. Expect gaps.

There's also magazines[fallout.wikia.com] that unlock more buildings that you can craft. (Including Fences)

I think some of the junk walls link but your better off using wood walls for your settlement walls. Fences work for keep things out I guess but enemies can still shoot over them. I mainly use the wood walls & use the junk walls to fill in some areas.

Meh i dont like that...
I want something big like junk fences but that actually work when linking together

They don't - And buildings increase your build limit, so that's not going to work very well.

I really need to wall off abernathy farm cause there they attack from every possible direction so you cant make a effective defense without walls...

The link shows where you can find it. Saugus Ironworks[fallout.wikia.com] is the one for Picket Fences (Also shows in that link under "Notable Loot")

This.

Also the junk fences (even if there are small gaps) will still keep out raiders as they can't pass through the gaps. It's not pretty but it works.

It's nearly impossible to build any good fences around stuff because of how poorly the build system interacts with uneven terrain.

The only solution to this currently is placing down cement or stilts from the wood floor section of the game.
Pancakekitty Nov 13, 2015 @ 6:35am
Junk fences are pretty good - They don't leave 'huge gaps' if you take the time to place them properly. And if you do have any gaps, use fence posts to fill them in.

They really don't like uneven terrain though...

Thx i will go check that out
How big are those fences, small like the wire ones or big enough to act like walls, meaning people cant shoot through them?
