Monsignor Plaza Area Crash
UPDATE: The beta patch for the game has solved the issue for me and a few other people. If you want to progress, try enabling the beta patch in Steam settings.

I cannot enter the area between C.I.T Ruins and Monsignor Plaza from any angle without crashing. This is prevalent as multiple important story missions take place there. My game doesn't crash anywhere else. Multiple other people have been having the same issue, on all platforms. Anyone have an idea as to why this would be happening?

this thread might help you, has a few workarounds http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1546438-fallout-4-crash-in-specific-area/

Has anyone found a solution that isn't a console workaround yet?

Im really hoping it's something simple.

Bethesda has posted on that thread asking for our save files so they're looking into it. You can check the thread every day as I'll change the OP once I hear anything, I'm unsure if it'll be in an offical patch or standalone like the xaudio patch.

Nooope, lots of people aren't but those of us that are can't progress due to it.

FYI, the kidnapped settler mission is timed, so I would reccomend just doing the workaround in the link above.

My solution is to rename my game save file...
and it works

Well, the beta patch has solved all my issues.

I knew the place was bugged already, even looked it up on the Fallout 4 map so I could avoid i. Didn't stop me from randomly wandering in to the area. As soon as it popped up, I thought "Crap!" But no crash.

It could be system related. Mine is an Alienware gaming laptop [i7 (8 core) @ 2.7ghz, 32gb RAM and an nVidia 680m] running the game at 1280x720. Graphical settings sitting at or around Medium.

I would suggest reducing your game settings as low as they will go, and try going to the area again. Post your system specs too.

I had a mission to get the Monsignor Key. Not knowing that it was bugged, I proceeded to do the quest. And guess what, I cleared it :>. But once I left the building with the key, the quest marker and quest disappeared >>. Maybe they secretly patched it (kind of), considering other busted parts of the game have mysteriously been fixed as well. So Enter At Your Own Risk. I did find some good loot and an accessible safe with good loot, fun building. I'll post a screenshot. Looks like screenshots are only viewable by admins and the uploader at this point. And yes I am using the beta patch

We've already established that the bug only happens for certain people.
However, it seems the beta patch has solved the issue.

Yup, Beta patch solved it for me :)
how does one get the beta patch?
