Hi, I have the same problem.
Workaround: Go to your Audio Settings and disable all other Audio Adapters (right click -> Disable). Now it works over TV Hdmi

*Restart PC
*Plug off all Headsets or other audio / mic devies from your PC
*Play any Music or something - that u are sure that ur TV Audio output works (i used spotify)
*Make sure (if u modded the game) Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini NOT read only
*Start Game - Works?
*Quit game and mark Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini as read only

HDMI to Desktop from my Flatscreen, and the sound doesn't drop for me, at least until my sound driver crashes.. but that only happened before patches related to audio drivers.

I'm pretty sure this is a driver issue on windows 10 and has something to do with how the nvidia gpu handshakes with the integrated Intel gpu which is responsible for driving the HDMI port...

Here is how I resolved the issue:
1. Plug the HDMI in and go to device manager (right click start -> device manager)
2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
3. Right click "Intel Display Audio" or something like that and uninstall.
4. Restart the PC
5. Right click the sound icon in the system tray and make sure the TV is set to default.
6. Load up the game and all should be good.

My specs for reference:
win10, i5 skylake, 960m, intel integrated graphics 530

Good luck, hope this helps!

I have solved with with my Asus K501XU gaming laptop.

1: open sound, play back devices. U should see two, one for ur laptop audio and another for ur HDMI, mine is TCL blah blah.. for my TCL TV.

2: Right click on laptop play back device and choose disable. It will still be there, but grayed out.

3: Device manager: find the same sound device u just disabled in sound playback device screen.

4: again, right click on this and choose disable.

5: IMPORTANT. RESTART your PC.

6: Now after ur PC is restarted, u will not that ur sound symbol in ur systray will have a red x. Fallout wont even run now.. thats cool.

7: go back to device manager and find that audio device u disabled and now right click and enable it.

8: Note, u will now see that red X gone. Now ur sound device in the play back screen, should still show disabled, while the same sound driver is enabled in device manager.

9: play fallout, this should work.

Summary: yes disabling it should work. But it needs to be disabled in play back devices first, then disabled in device manager, and reboot. Now after u re enable it in device manager, it is still fully disabled as a play back device, but now ur OS will detect a valid sound driver loading, meaning red x gone.

Good luck

I had this problem when I first got Fallout and worked around it by using windowed mode but now I see the resolution is limited to 1440 x 810. What happened to 1080 windowed mode? Do I really have to disable and enable the right sound outputs every time depending on what I'm doing on my laptop? Now the game wont even start with laptop speakers disabled, since when does a game get worse after a year of updates?
