What weapon type does the shotgun classify as?

Want to up its damage in the perk tree, does it classify as heavy or something else?

It depends on the Mods you build into. Because there are several Perks which progress. You can either make a full automatic one or a normal one. Ther is one Perk for each of this Mods which can make more Damage. But if you prefer, like me, overall Damage go for the "Bloody Death" one from Luck (i guess this was the Name of it)

Edit: Gnah forgot about that. There are two Shotguns in this Game. One with two Barrels and a Combat Shotgun. The Last one can be modded for semi / automatic / non automatic Mode. The other one is just non automatic. Also you can make Lasers and later Plasmaweapons into "Shotguns" too.

It counts as a non-automatic by default.

Non automatic rifle, there is no shotgun class anymore (at least not perk wise that I've seen)
