What's with the horde of ghouls???
I especially hate the way they simply pop up out of the ground all the time. In previous games, the feral ghouls were generally limited to underground locations (caves, subways, etc), or highly radioactive locations. Here, they are EVERYWHERE. They also seem to move faster and attack in larger groups.

Bottom line, looks like more emphasis on FPS gaming

They turned it into a zombie shooter.

Explosives take care of them quite well. It seems there is an increase in all mob numbers. Been to the Corvega factory yet?

You answered your own question really.

Fallout 4 is for all intents and purposes at this point a Shooter game.

Hell, if the Call of Duty Hitmarkers weren't obvious enough.

I must say the ghouls are some of the more fun game zombies to date. But yeah FO4 shapes up to be quite a decent game. It's drenched in Fallout lore and atmosphere even if it gets things wrong but it is a very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sequel to FO3 and FONV.

Eh I enjoy it. Caught myself off-guard once when I thought I had cleared the whole area and one comes up out of no where and hits me. I don't know why but I felt like I got hit in real life and jumped it was awesome. Just keep an eye out for bodies on the floor.

does anyone read into the lore at all?

your in a city of where the nuke litterly hit ontop of... everywhere is radiated enough for them to live. if you want to see more, go to the glowing sea.

I'm not sure what the problem here is with the ghouls? Personally I think they're FAR better than what they've ever been, they've really gotten my heart racing when I hear them crawling out of somewhere behind me or pop up out of the ground.

I even legitimately jumped slightly when I was walking through the Lexington shopping mall and one I SWEAR was dead popped up and ran at me from behind.

They're much harder to deal with now, look better, act better and are overall much spookier and more enjoyable to fight than they've ever been. I also haven't had any issues with where they've been, it's a nuclear wasteland for gods sake.

So yeah, loving the new Ghouls <3

Ferals like to keep cool underneath train cars because the sun dries out their rotting skin

They felt like annoying bullet soaks and artificial difficulty (swarmed by 5-6 at a time) - until realizing that they have the legs of an undernourished grandmother. Wish they had a crawl mechanic when missing a leg though, they just give up.

A shotgun is your dearest friend.

And this is another zombie convention! I haven't found shotguns to be very effective against most targets, but they do wonders against ghouls. I agree the new zombies are more challenging and all that, but they don't 'feel' like Fallout Ghouls. Ghouls were slow, dumb, and terribly ulcerated since Fallout 1. These feel like the monsters from any of the various zombie shooters. And they look like mashed potatoes.
