How to route power into built buildings as well as other houses?"
How do you route power into your prefab buildings? Its a bit awkward having a wire go into the doorway, etc. How do you do this for the buildings you buy as well? Confusing. I wish it was explained a bit better ingame.

You need to use one of the connectors. I think it's called a Light Box.

Do you connect it to the wall and somehow you magically have electricity inside? Because I thought of that, Didn't work.

I'll try it.

That's a terminal "accessory"

You don't need to put wires through doors - I put conduits around the outside of my buildings and all the lights and stuff inside get power.

That's odd, because It isn't working when I do that.

Attach generators via wires to pylons to get near the house, then attach conduits (there are 3 types - one that hangs, one that is meant for roofs, and one that juts out perpendicularly from walls) with wires to the grid. These conduits have an AOE that provides power to everything "wirelessly" within its range.

The range isn't great, but its not terrible. Conduits on sidewalls should get power inside most shelters you build except for into the middles of quite large ones.

Getting power to the middle of large, multi-level builds is...a chore.:sad_creep:

Let me be more specific....it provides it "wirelessly" to things to need general power.

Many things, like recruitment towers or spotlights need a direct power line.

yes you have to route through a doorway. small appliances close by a power 'node' will be powered without having to physically attach a wire (tvs, small lights etc). the settlement at the fort is a great example of how to route through doorways, most wiring is already installed when you secure it as a settlement.

i personally tend to route my power 'nodes' (connecters) across the upper outside walls or roofs of buildings and place any objects i want inside the building within the 'powerup' radius of the connecters on the outside walls/roof.

hope this helps...

I've just been using ceiling conduits and smaller generators in my structures, but I'll quote someone from another thread. His solution seemed pretty good, if resource intensive:

here is what I do. go into the wood structures area and find the ladders\stairs. make a pathway to a buildings roof. place a few (small house = 5) of the wood power lines. (1 centered on house, 4 additional usually set in from the 4 corners). connect those to your main power lines. and place lights inside with recless abandon. those 5 power lines make sure that power spreads to a entire building. And I can confirm they can be place on top of 2 story houses and the power will still propogate down to the first floor.

Additionally you could do what i did to sanctuary hills. I used the tall metal power lines (without the switch) and lined the streets with them. spaced as far apart as possible. Those conect to each other, with a single line that then runs to a switched tower and on to the generator field (8 large generators). Now there is power making a loop all around Sanctuary hills. for easy tapping anywhere.

Nice way I've found to get power into a building (wires and all) is to build a wooden structure using one or the walls with holes in it ( only in one place) and I've found you can actually run wires through these holes in the wall. Good if you don't want a noisy generator in your room.
As a side note, I really wish we could build a basement of some kind without building your house 1 lvl off the ground and then having the lower lvl as a "basement" of sorts.
