I'm really getting fed up with the weird $hit that Bethesda did to Fallout 4. Played Morrowind, no problems. Oblivion, no problems. New Vegas, no problems. Skyrim, no problems. Fallout 4: Doesn't seem to register with Windows that a game is running, so the screensaver and power saver settings will kick in; no achievements for modded games - I mean, their games are MEANT to be modded, but now all of the sudden they feel like it's cheating?; no brightness adjust; only supports 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios.
I have a friend who has only played FO4 of Bethesda's games and really likes it and doesn't think these things are that big a deal, but to anyone who played New Vegas or Skyrim it's like losing features.
Thanks for any help!
Mods disabling achievements were not exactly Bethesda's fault. That restriction was set, because XBOX One players get Gamer Score points for opened achievements. That score does not actually seem to do anything valid (I do not own any consoles), but Microsoft is still taking it somewhat seriously.
Game was ported to PC as it is. One reason for this is that you can't create mods for consoles without PC version of the game, so both PC and Console versions are distributed a like.
However, there is a mod in Nexus that disables achievement restriction for Fallout 4. It does not edit the executable, so no one in Microsoft, Bethesda or Steam cares about us using it.
