Check on your V.A.T.S. I hear that doing that gets rid of vats.

more or less. i'm not sure if it has anything to do with ini tweaks, but i will say i made a few of them. i think it's a save corruption issue, but i'm just guessing at this point. i don't know why or how it affects saves for different characters in the same folder.

just to be safe i also disabled any and all save features in the options.

Yep, after the door bugs out my VATS is gone. Anyone have a fix?

You cannot do the door animation if you want VATS to work. You have to surpass the console entirely.

Here's a fix I developed to restore VATS....

I've made an Imgur albulm explaining the cause and fix for this issue: http://imgur.com/a/770N4

Here's a short textual summary of the fix:

During normal gameplay (not in VATS, a terminal, a conversation, a menu, etc.) , open the console and run the command 'DumpInputEnableLayers'

If you see a Layer there, note it's number. Not the hexadecimal one, the normal integer one -- such as '0'.

Run the command 'ResetInputEnableLayer [#]' to remove the restrictions that layer had.

Here's my quick solution to this glitch that doesn't break your V.A.T.S.

If you don't want to clip through doors like Ruggalo's video, and actually want the door to open, press the button during combat.

I used, "player.placeleveledactoratme FF000DB2" without quotes in the console to spawn a bloatfly, let it start attacking me and pressed the button. Being in combat while hitting it bypasses the animation. As Minos stated the bug is due to the animation never finishing, so you're stuck in limbo locked out of certain functions until the animation finishes. Since the game won't let you enter the animation during combat the door will simply just open. You will then have an open vault door, a working VATS, the only downside being the immersion breaking of spawning a bloatfly and you not plugging in your pipboy. However it definitely feels to me the safest and least immersion breaking option opposed to TCL or using the console to completely delete the door.

Have helped 3 friends successfully with the exact same bug with this method, but as always save right before attempting and if for some reason it doesn't work, TCL and using the console to position the NPCs since the door is still closed is still an option.

Nick Valentine is stuck inside the Vault for me. He just keeps staring at a wall and his path ends.

Yeah, for this I just had to force-complete the quest via the console.

Is there a specific way you have to enter this into the console? beacuse i have tried this numerous times and the command never works.

i'm damn certain all the vault door issues are the same. why or how saves fit into the picture? no idea, but at least i can open vaults.

EDIT: i also removed any and all ini edits. you can do this by simply deleting fallout4.ini/fallout4prefs.ini and launching the game. the changes i made were placebos anyway.

Would there be a way to do this without starting a new game? im 60 hours into the game and im level 40, and would like to save my progress if its all possible.

I may have wrote the ID incorrectly?

Basically like this:

1: Press ~
2: Type: player.placeleveledactoratme ID

In the place of ID you just put the code of anything that can put you in combat. To check you can go in the console and do this.

1: Press ~
2: Type: Help bloatfly 0

Then mouseover the console and scroll up and use one of the NPC bloatfly codes. Then you just type them in.

In my game the codes:

Player.PlaceLeveledActorAtMe FF000D46
Player.PlaceLeveledActorAtMe FF000DB2

both spawn a different skinned bloatfly at my location. Also be sure to not be looking into a wall as it may not spawn anything, allow some space for it to appear in front of you. Can also choose other creatures it's just bloatfly's seemed the most harmless to me.
